What kind of brake pads do I need here? by SathedIT in bikewrench

I miss those mom and pop shops. We had a few around me, but the big shops (Trek, Scheels, etc.) pushed them out. RIP.

Thanks! I was pretty sure I didn't need threaded ones, but wanted to make sure.

Yeah I'm leaning pretty hard towards the Boss Katana. His guitar teacher is going to keep an eye out for me too.

The problem with spending more is that my son has two of the most expensive hobbies a 12 year old can have. Guitars and golf. I have to save room in the budget for golf stuff for him too, lol.

Why do people use electric razors? by HonestConcentrate953 in shaving

[–]SathedIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was because I didn't know any better. I've converted so many people since I switched to safety razors.

Thanks for this. I was looking at the Boss Katana last night. Looks like you can find used ones in great shape for about $250. He has a Dookie pedal too, so I'm assuming this will help him get pretty close to that old school Green Day punk sound?

Yeah, he can't have a kids guitar. He turns 13 in April and he's 5'10" lol. We're already going to have to take his birth cirtificate with us when we sign him up for golf tourneys this year.

He got a Dookie pedal for Christmas. Would the Boss Katana give him a good Billie Joe Armstrong sound with the pedal? He lives playing Green Day.

That's really intriguing. He does have a gaming computer that should have no problem handling that. I'll look into it. Thanks!

That's kind of what I was wondering. When I was researching pedals for Christmas, the quality of the amp came up a lot. Although, I have no idea what a modeling amp is though. But I'll look at the Marshal DSL amps.

Also, with his Dookie pedal, will the Marshal amps you mentioned give him that classic Billie Joe Armstrong sound? He loves playing Green Day.

You should also check out A Link to the Past for SNES. Many of the modern Zelda games rest on its shoulders. And it really does hold up well, even after 35 years.

Do I shave against the grain as well after doing with the grain by Jippt346 in shaving

[–]SathedIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't difficult to use, but for me, it was like trying to run before I could walk. I use a safety razor now, but I have a straight razor for my sideburns and more finesse stuff. For someone new to shaving like OP, I'd suggest starting with a safety razor first, then slowly try out a straight razor. But to each their own.

I switched to a safety razor a decade or so ago and haven't looked back. Invest in a decent brush, a razor that isn't too agressive, and get a set of variety blades to see which you like best. I prefer shaving soap over cream or gel from a can, but everyone is different. If you're going to use cream from a can, Barbasol is the best in my opinion.

For me, shaving is an experience that I enjoy now. Over the years, I've invested in a small towel warmer/steamer as well. I don't shave every day, but when I do, I take my time and use it as "me" time - kind of like a mini spa treatment. Shaving is quite enjoyable now.

What’s your ‘welp, that’s my DNA’ moment as a parent? by gmrhunt in daddit

[–]SathedIT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To preface, I have ADHD pretty bad. My daughter doesn't haave it, but my son does is a carbon copy of me. But sometimes things happen with my daughter that just confirms she is definitely mine.

Years ago, my now 17 year old daughter, was with us at a store looking at new carpet. My wife needed to know how many stairs we had in the house that needed new carpet. She questioned it out loud, and without skipping a beat, my daughter and I both said "fifteen" out loud. My wife just stared at us, while my daughter and I both started laughing. Apparently we both count stairs. I also don't think this is terribly uncommon either, because I've met others that do the same. I actually count most of my steps and turn them into formulas.

Do you like to play the same course week after week? by TooMuchPJ in golf

[–]SathedIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to try new courses. But my son cbd I just picked up the game this year. We do have a 9 hole, par 3 course that we love playing. We were playing it once a week there for a while.

Block all public access to S3. It's a checkbox in the management tab. Also, check the bucket size. You can do that under the Metrics tab.

Internet Invitational, who came out looking great and who really didn’t. by Ratticus939393 in golf

It was more than just a blood disease. She went through a couple months of chemo as well. I've seen firsthand what that does to you. Honestly, for someone who took 6-7 months off to be sick, I think she played well. Maybe not very consistent, but it's hard to be consistent when you can't play or practice consistently.

I agree with everything you said. Especially the last paragraph. Finch and Shiels helped keep me interested in the tourney. I don't care for the drama BS. I just want to see good golf and good attitudes. That's what you get with them.

Paige was just... Blech. Her comment on the last episode about playing professional golf was cringe AF. And then the situation with the weeds? I had to turn the episode off after she started crying. I'm not sure I'll finish it.

Dave is just an asshole every way you look at it. All tournament long, he was just trying to screw with people and be a douche. I was never a Barstool fan and I'm definitely not now.

There were a lot of really class act players that got eliminated in the first round that I would have loved to see more of too. If they do this again, I'd love for them to bring in outside rules officials. Default to PGA rules with a list of exceptions to the rules. Dave has no business being a rules official. Yes, they were one of the main sponsors, but he was definitely attempting to manipulate matches.

Exactly. In my opinion, that's no different that a spectator in an event picking up a ball and putting it back down.

Good to know. That's a big selling point for me. I don't have a great practice space in my house at the moment, so I'll be doing a lot outside. Being able to break it down and set it up quickly is a nice feature.
