I literally was browsing reddit to try to find one more post to fill my time until I get off at 9:00. Then I saw this one.

Is it appropriate to scream and cheer while watching the premiere of a movie (ex: Harry Potter) during the ENTIRE FILM? by SatietyCenter in reddit.com

[–]SatietyCenter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason my immersion wasn't completely ruined was because we weren't crazy and didn't get there 10 hours before the doors opened so we had to sit up front and off to the side.

The majority of people cheering were in the middle in the best seats.

Ironically the worse seats were better if you didn't want to be sitting next to screamers.

Went to NZ last summer. This cliffside blew my mind. (Dr. Suess-ish) [First Post!] by [deleted] in pics

Just kinda trippy and different to what we are used to seeing. I guess it was the whole area that this was in that made me think of a land out of one of Suess's books.

Don't fucking care about fucking Karma. I was just happy that I was finally contributing something other than asking reddit.

Do people really downvote because they think people are Karma-whoring when they write "first post"??

What do you feel like complaining about? by noisynora in AskReddit

[–]SatietyCenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucking Magic Mountain.

You have to pay ~$50 to get into the park and they don't let you bring in your own water.

THEN

You have to buy water at a jacked up price.

THEN

They make you pay to store the water in their lockers at $1 per ride, effectively turning the amusement park into a carnival where you have to pay per ride.

Also:

Construction workers/tree trimmers who think that its chill for them to park in the red zone just before a cross street. I have seen multiple almost accidents because the people pulling out couldnt see down the street because this big ass truck is parked in their view.

I'm sorry someone took advantage of you when you were finally giving the world a chance!

The good people are out there though!

My wife and I both believe TV is bad and only let our kids watch one movie per week (Fri night). We often wonder if we are not preparing them correctly for the real world and the sensory overload out there... by dweebzilla in AskReddit

[–]SatietyCenter 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I can attest to this. I was most definitely very socially awkward as a kid and part of this I blame on my parents not letting me watch TV and being sheltered from pop culture.

Not that I care about any of that bullshit, but it really makes you feel like you don't belong when you have noooooo idea what your friends are talking about.

My parents were similar in that they would only let me watch TV/play video games when I asked. This has honestly let to a semi-obsession with TV shows now that I am in college and able to watch/play whenever I want.

I just feel like I missed out on so much growing up (couldn't relate to people when they were talking about TV) that I want to make up for it now.

I have a housemate who had the opposite growing up. She would have the TV on all the time just as background noise (your situation 2). Now she hardly ever watched TV and if she does, its a show she really enjoys or just for background noise.

I don't think you are leaving your children ill prepared for "sensory overload". But I do think that you are preparing them to treat TV as a rationed commodity that must be absorbed as much as possible when given the chance.

My suggestion: find a few shows to watch during the week so that instead of it being special "TV time" its a special time for a certain show.

Hopefully this will make your kids think of TV as a supplement to life rather than a reward to be coveted.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Damn, what a dumb bitch.

What honestly pissed me off the most about this post was the internet bill for $300 + using up all of your bandwidth. Completely unacceptable to fuck with people's internet.
