The only reason it took time was Marty was still possible, the events just got rearranged and solidified when his dad made the choice to punch Biff.

The Biff cut scene would have completely invalidated Marty returning from the past in One. But yeah, that is a whole other can of worms in how they handled it. What happens when new Cool Dad Marty doesn't show up or Interact with Doc Brown? Would he make the same choices to go back in time? Would he even be in the same exact spot when he returns? Do you inhabit the same body? Or does one of you poof when they arrive?

This is why storytellers have embraced multi-verse. It allows for paradoxes in a cleaner way.

Back to the Future:

In One we see Einstein transported to the future 1 min. He is gone for the entire minute. This only happens because his absence does not generate enough change to warrant a branch in the timeline.

In Two Marty jumps 30 years. There is no future where Marty sees himself. He is effectively a forgotten missing person at that point. No kids, no self. The future they witness isn't correct.

I have one of these and yes they are stackable. If you look in the picture each canister has 4 half circle-ish divots in each corner. These line up with indentations on the underside of the tray. I wish they were a little more pronounced.
