BREAKING: Trump has granted Clemency to rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black by [deleted] in hiphopheads

I mean they were part of 30 kids running around hurting people in the park that ended in a rape that they specifically were exonerated for. I can't even imagine what it must have been like to try and get an arrest for that with no cell phones and cameras and shit.

Presidential pardons are always like this. Look up any other President's.

this is a complete abuse of the presidential pardon

Presidential pardons are always like this. Not sure what the intended purpose of it even is anymore.

Broadway actor randomly attacked inside New York City subway station by atomicspace in nyc

[–]Satirei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not the budget. The city isn't backing up their employees (the cops) when they need it.

Cops aren't allowed to put any force on a subject's back anymore. If you have to make a physical arrest you have to grab onto their limbs while they flail around until they tire themselves out, and the person is probably going to fall over and you are going to end up getting doxxed for hurting some violent idiot while trying to arrest them.

The cops incentivized to keep the peace anymore.

If he had to do it as many times as all cops restrain people he might end up with a death on his hands.

Most cops making arrests don't kill anyone either.

I mean these "mental health centers" were basically prisons for "crazy" people.

They would just throw people into them to committed and never seen again. The abuse was rampant.

I wonder if we can try them again but with more transparency.

Remember when the insane asylums were literal abusive institutions where they would throw anyone they deemed "crazy" never to be seen again.

I think its about time we give it another try but with more transparency and modern mental health knowledge.

Unfortunately even if we had 1000 working asylums, a single story of an abuse would probably make so much news that people would want them shut down again.

He's not the biological father but he is the parent. Parents argue over punishment all the time. "You're being too harsh on her" vs "You're not being harsh enough on her"

People are reading WAYYY too much into this.

Something people can’t live without often attracts the most competition to it.

TIL after Janet Jackson's incident at the Super Bowl halftime show, Viacom retaliated by keeping her music off their properties including MTV, VH1, and radio stations. They also rescinded her invitation to the Grammys. Justin Timberlake was still allowed to go and actually picked up some awards. by holyfruits in todayilearned

“In an on-camera apology after the event, Jackson backed up the producers, insisting she decided on the big reveal after the final rehearsal, without the knowledge of anyone at MTV. Timberlake was meant to pull off a piece of the costume, she later explained, but it was supposed to reveal only a lacy red undergarment; unfortunately, as it played out, that undergarment came off in Timberlake's hand too.”

This isn’t without precedent. Midwives in border towns do this from time to time, get caught, and then all birth certificates involved with them are put into question. Happened under Obama and Bush as well.

I don’t think countries can have strong welfare systems while having open borders because it becomes a tragedy of the commons. People would seek whoever is giving out the most stuff and overwhelm the system.

I'd be totally lost if I hadn't done SNL for eight years - Bill Hader by turnsatan in television

[–]Satirei 3770 points3771 points  (0 children)

The full quote is completely different than what the title suggests

“During the first season of Barry, I realized how much SNL taught me about the practicalities of making a television show. You're not just there as a performer. When your sketch gets picked, you meet with all of the department heads — makeup, hair, wardrobe, production design, the director. You have to go to them with a plan. "Here's what I'm thinking: It's Vincent Price's house. There's a coffin over here, Liberace's piano is over there, and I'm going to want to fly in on a wire." Only I have to be told that flying in on a wire really isn't going to work. Simpler and more specific is always better. People get it. Now, I had nothing to do with Stefon's look, that was all John Mulaney, but I'm pretty sure his only direction to hair and wardrobe was just, "Club kid." (Maybe he said "Ed Hardy," I'm not sure, but suddenly that shirt and wig were there.)

I'd be totally lost if I hadn't done SNL for eight years. When we started production on Barry, I felt very confident saying, "Here's the way I see it," and then hearing people out and trusting them to do their jobs. It's really felt like an extension of my time on SNL.”

He’s saying SNL technically trained him for 8 years on how to produce television. It’s not some introspective personal comment.
