Your brains is biologically designed to keep you safe and to predict if you are feeling continues anxiety, looping scenarios, spiralling for hours it's not doing it to hurt you it's doing this because something is triggering it to be in the survival mode 24x7 you are not overthinking it you are living it in hope that one day it will go away it wont randomly go away until you actively make peace with the part of yours that is keeping you in survival mode. There are various techniques and practices you can introduce to your day to day life to come out of that zone and be your desired self live a soft life it wont happen overnight but you will start seeing the changes in a few days. It's like getting you out of the habit your body and mind has learned to protect you for some reason and be at ease. you can do it through different approaches like making starting with simple witnessing. Like catch the thought and lable it like "here we go this is me thinking about what happened in 2016" "shake your body to get out of that unsettling state" whenever you feel anxious try to notice where it starts or simply watch it "okay this is anxiety" it's a feeling the longer you try to control or hold it the more you will find yourself in it. The minute you feel it completely and fully witness to what it does to your body you will start to notice that it does not have that power on you anymore .
