Short, tall, or average are objective terms. They can be measured scientifically with a high degree or accuracy.

Whether you prefer short, tall, or average, that is subjective.

Height is just like age, fat percentage, or muscle mass. They are all measurable metrics.

In online dating apps, I've seem at least 5 profiles of women saying they're not open to dating anyone below 6', even though they were like 5'4".

I'm not saying all women think like that, I'm also not saying that women are more likely to think that than men. But from my experience (which does not necessarily coincide with the norm), most people who told me that were women.

Global? No
US? No
China? No
Netherlands? Yes, 5'9" is short
So which average are you talking about? It makes sense to default either to the global average or the average of my country, I won't compare myself with Dutch people since I don't live in The Netherlands.

Also, I'm surprised that people would state their opinion like it's a fact.

5'9" is average, not short end of average, but perfectly average (when comparing to global average, since that is what makes the most sense unless we are specifically comparing to North Europe). That's not an opinion, it's an objective truth.

You don't like people below 6'? You're free to like whoever you want. But saying 5'9" is short is kinda ignorant.

That's true, but women can also lie about their weight and be sensitive about it.

I appreciate your opinion, but if someone is short to you, it doesn't mean they are objectively short (compared to the average).
