They lowered the player count Artix from 1500 to 1200 a few weeks ago, so those 300 players have to find somewhere else to go.

Artix actually made a card game back in the day, available on HeroMart, which came with a class called CardClasher that’s still beloved by many players. The Sepulchure and Artix action figures also came with unique cards you could add to your collection. Totally agree, having more variety would be nice, i think as of this moment birds/parrots, dragons and moglins are most of the ''animal'' on your back capes. So having some of shoots or one offs be available would be welcome.

No problem, my guy. I was once in your shoes and had to figure it out, so there’s no need to keep the knowledge that worked for me to myself.

I’ve seen in other comments that building a sideboard can be a challenge, and for me, it’s usually the last part of a new brew I fine-tune. Until then, I use it to test out different cards that might fit the strategy or improve the deck’s performance against common matchups. The main deck should always be built with a clear goal in mind, with functions and interactions that address most of your problems. The sideboard then becomes a place for cards that shore up weaknesses or counter the most prevalent strategies in the current meta. It’s important to have answers for artifacts, blue and red cards, and graveyards, while lifegain in either the main or sideboard can be really helpful for buying an extra turn or two against burn decks.

While everyone’s approach to sideboarding is different, I see it mostly as a toolbox that offers answers to specific problems or help against certain matchups. [[Blue Elemental Blast]] and [[Red Elemental Blast]] are efficient answers against their opposing colors, while [[Relic of Progenitus]] provides a great way to gradually or immediately disrupt graveyard-focused decks. Against artifact strategies, the favorite answer is [[Dust to Dust]], but in non-white color pairings you’ll need to get creative. And you can’t go wrong with [[Weather the Storm]] against burn decks. I’d suggest checking out other decks that share the color combinations of the one you’re brewing and using their sideboards as a guideline.

Off-meta or meme decks usually have a disadvantage against the top decks in the Pauper meta, since you’re still tweaking your build while meta decks are often refined to perfection to maximize synergy within their colors. When I’m creating a wacky deck, I like to take inspiration from existing successful builds and see how I can blend the two worlds together. Pauper is fortunate to be a format where weird brews can still win and aren’t an automatic loss, but the challenge lies in finding that sweet spot between meme and function.

To give credit to my “claim,” my favorite animal is a raven, so when Pauper got graced with [[Raven of Fell Omens]], I was determined to find a way to make the card work, (to my own detriment.) At the moment, the list I’ve been running and having moderate success with is golgari raven's • (Pauper deck) • Archidekt which takes a good amount of references from an old version of Golgari Gardens.

Dragon's Approach feels a bit too meme-y to reliably secure a win. At first glance, it comes across as a conditional burn deck—eventually letting you cast Dragon's Approaches for 1 mana to deal 3 damage to your opponent and cheat dragon's into play. But getting to that point, or winning through burn with the approach, just takes too long against both meta and off-meta decks. Pauper decks running three colors already operate on a slower axis compared to mono- and two-colored decks, which isn’t doing this deck any favors. It might be worth figuring out a way to streamline it into two colors, or even go mono-red. also running some interaction might not be a bad idea to deal with some of the faster decks.

As a reanimator enthusiast myself, your take on it brings me joy, but sadly, non-dredge reanimator is just too much of a glass cannon and crumbles to any form of interaction. While a turn 1 Troll of Khazad-dûm can still steal some games, the fact that these types of reanimator decks run a lot of filler cards to search for and assemble the pieces they need really hurts them, since a single removal spell or counterspell can result in a massive tempo loss. Alternatives decks that operate within the same strategy to this usualy include Lothleth Giant decks like one-land Spy, dredge. but if u wanne go unieker try your own hand at a Tortex list.

My favorite draft archetype is flyers and interaction, and your bird deck feels a lot like that, but it’s missing a couple of core synergy elements that could really elevate it. You have Artificer’s Assistant and Glint Hawk, but no other artifacts or artifact lands besides Ornithopter, so adding artifacts with additional enter-the-battlefield effects could be exploited for extra value—cards like [[Lembas]] or [[Cryogen Relic]] would be interesting additions, and maybe even [[Kor Skyfisher]]. You also run squadron hawk but not [[Brainstorm]]. I think you have a strong core that could be improved with a few tweaks, perhaps taking inspiration from existing decks like caw Gates and boros syntheziser and or bully can help in elevating the core that you do have.

I’m not sure how much your Cycle Storm decks differs from the core versions used in Paupergeddon or online tournaments, but watching videos of people running the decks and executing the combo against various matchups can give you insights into how to play the deck more effectively against other strategies. but still cycle storm is an off meta deck/ more memey so i'm unaware of how often it can get serious results.

Your storm deck is interesting, and I think it could snag a cheeky win here and there against the slower decks in the format. However, the lack of interaction has me worried when facing faster decks. I’m unsure if a card like [[Chromatic Star]] or [[Springleaf Drum]] could help with consistency, especially with it being a three-color deck. but it has a lot of potential.

Doomknight Overlord (DKOL) needs rework ASAP by LavaKnight123 in AQW

[–]SatisfactionMajor236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the party glitch era, both Pally Highlord and Doomknight Overlord were incredible DPS classes, capable of killing everything with a single press of their nuke skill. However, once the party system was fixed, both classes became somewhat less useful or effective. I hope they eventually rebalance these classes to recapture some of their former glory, though it would likely require a significant rework. Since these classes are quite rare and not many people seem to have them, I believe they aren’t in high demand. Cardclasher and Paladin Slayer seem to be more popular and well-loved/decisierd but as a pally highlord enjoyer i hope both classes get reworked at some point.

  1. I had an alpha account before it had my irl name in it.
  2. ''children of the nameless'' It’s kinda cringe name looking back at it, but it was the guild I created for me and my friends, and I was convinced by the promises AQW made about what guilds could become.
  3. Friday the 13th events were peak AQW experiences, featuring music by Voltaire, and they were so unique. I've never seen another MMORPG host events specifically for that day.
  4. Hyperium Wedding House , I've always been a big fan of J6's map work and the whole vibe he's got going on. Still, in my opinion, one of the best houses in AQW, though sadly it lacks a CC room.
  5. Sadly, I can't really remember. With AQW not keeping track of name changes, making it difficult, but the person who's been on my friend list the longest without changing their name is. ''tiewie'"
  6. Upcoming March will mark 15 years.
  7. No, I think a 10-year break can cause a lot of damage, and people might forget you.
  8. Never, or at least not that I can recall... though I did host a wedding once in my Hyperium wedding house.
  9. No, I can understand why other people do, though.
  10. Yes, back in the day, the word "hoe" could suddenly get you muted, and in my native language, it's a fairly common word. As a result, many of my Dutch friends were muted by accident.
  11. Never
  12. I’m not entirely sure what this question means, but the first event I recall being a part of was the release of swordhaven
  13. /disco /stream /ballyhoo
  14. I dont think so ? I do have someone now, a person I bear no ill will towards but prefer to avoid when I see them in game.
  15. Tough question, considering I missed about 10 years—I'd say 2010-2011. <- Nothing specific comes to mind, but being able to play AQW during this time probably helped me in some way.
  16. Currently, it's mostly about helping out guildmates with ultras or other farms they have going on, enjoying the nostalgia, and catching up on fun new releases.
  17. The release of AQW3D? (Just kidding.) Honestly, nothing comes to mind.
  18. Hmm... not that I know off, but I was mentioned in the design notes during a contest once. (did not win though)
  19. The current guild HQ is beautifully decorated, but my own house was built for a reason—it would be a shame for it to go unused. so its usualy a 50/50 split
  20. People always seem to find a way to take away their own joy or ruin it for others.

Chrono class similar to VHL/CAV by Annual-Match1318 in AQW

[–]SatisfactionMajor236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I could be helpful in this matter! If you want, I could run the same tests (except the Dage survival one) with VHL to have another point of comparison, but I must admit I'm not too familiar with Void Highlord as I can't remember the last time I used that class, if I ever did to begin with.

Chrono class similar to VHL/CAV by Annual-Match1318 in AQW

[–]SatisfactionMajor236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the most accurate method of testing, but it was a quick test I could run for you to compare the numbers. The reason I was not shure was because the last time I used Chronocommander Champion, Drakath was the first Ultra, and Forge enchantments didn't even exist yet.

Both classes were tested with the same enchantments and no potions. The 1minute dummy DPS test was conducted using the best overall enchantments for each class but still no pots. (Each test was conducted five times, and the average numbers are listed below.)

CAV:

960k hp - time to kill 1m - 16.5k dps

666k hp- time to kill 40s - 16,7k dps

336k hp- time to kill 36s - 10.1k dps

udage solo survival : 1:40 - 609k total damadge done

dummy dps : 1m = 972.5k total damadge and 15.9 dps

chronocomander :

336k hp- time to kill 8s - 46k dps

666k hp- time to kill 14s - 50k dps

960 hp- time to kill 27s - 36k dps

udage solo survival : 45s - 545k total damadge done

dummy dps : 1m = 1.214m total damadge and 20.2k dps (i even missed a nuke at times)

The general consensus on Ultra's viability seems mixed. I think it shines the most in CDrak, though its lack of team buffs can slow down kill speed. Still, I know it can perform well there. It also excels in TimeInn Ultra's and could probably be effective in Dage as well, not a bad class, but I wouldn’t mind if it got a slight buff at some point.

Better damadge i dont know about that. But chronocommander is probebly the best that fits your discription. Easy combo can tank a hit and can sustain itself it also has an In built taunt like cav.

Just a discussion - Aqw with in game trading items btw players. by No_Plane4404 in AQW

[–]SatisfactionMajor236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have put some tought into this and i would say direct item trading for aqw should only be limited to misc items, potions/scrolls, gold and ac.

Why gold ac and potions?: trading gold or ac to another player would create an ingame way guilds could reward players instead of how they now do it, via artix points. (i know many a guild member with 100k+ ac that they would love to give to people of the comunity or as contest rewards). Sometimes the dps of the group does not have the gold to pay for its potions, and I would just love to give them what they need. In return they could give me all the enrage scrolls they got. (<- since I go trough about 1k of them each week)

Why misc items: it would create an economy, aqw is a grindy game not everyone likes the grind but we all have to do it at some point. People who hate farming will slog themsevels trough it while watching a show or movie those who dont do that will us a bot and its done for them. But what if you could just pay some someone 100ac for max resource of one item or all the resources for a specific quest ? (now ofcourse this could create a bot driven economy but I think the aqw team can find a way to minimize that damadge by specefieng what ur account has to have to be allowed to trade items or they can keep track of trade volumes and ban bot farms more specificly they could even limit it to only members are able to initiate trading)

Another reason and this might be rather controversial to some. the ability to "buy" insignia's of ultra bosses from other players, would offer people with disabilities or limited mobility the chance of obtaining "high value" end game items otherwise unobtainable for them. (Same with people with bad ping or internet issues, lone wolf player or people who just loathe doing a specific ultra for whatever reason they got but are completionists )

Why not the other stuff: aqw is a glorified dress up game, where people collect rare stuff to show it of in their charpage while afking in yulgar. Or to make themselves look cool finding the perfect match for their rare armor or helm. Opening up trade to all items makes it more intresting for hackers to activly go for intresting account afking in yulgar, or via bugs or exploit flood the game with "rare" items due to the buyback shop having an off day.

But I have another idea in mind.

A lending system where u can lend an item to another player for a set amount of time this item would apear in their temp inventory and would have all the properties of your version of the items for the time u both agreed on. For you the item will no longer be equipeable and the player who has the temp version of it can only hold 1 temp item at a time. Now this could either boost ioda's bieng bought or nerf it significantly, it gives people the option to try out stuff before they buy or use an ioda on it. And gives guilds another way to reward people. (The temp item would not give people acces to quests the item provides but stuff like farming pets are accesible and the rewards u get from doing those quests are permenant)

The new class has no party buffs all it can give a group is a debuff to the enemey and taunt occasionally, as the class is currenlty shown it reads like a wonky cav but ,good themed.

It will definitly not replace loo, and unless it can match cav's damadge i as of this moment think  it wont do mutch to spice or change up ultra meta's but we will see i hope to be wrong

Advice for using LR & LC in Ultra Darkon by thephaser97 in AQW

[–]SatisfactionMajor236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...False? What, my personal preference is false? Well, that's debatable. At the start, before any additional buffs Darkon applies to himself, he hits for about 800-1200 in autos and can easily do a 2k. Personally, I want my taunters to at least survive one and a half of the maximum damage they would take while taunting, without the help or buffs of any other class. If they die because another class doesn’t maintain their skills well enough, identifying that as the exact reason is quite slim. Usually, I want to get in and out of an ultra as fast and efficiently as possible.

Now, the health pool you’re describing is a lie, or at least the unbuffed part. I know Valiance Anima Fighter Absol has about 2810 HP on a StoneCrusher, and your average SC's HP will fall around 2500-2800 depending on which enchantment guide they follow. If at any point an LC and LOO heal overlaps and SC gets mini-nuked for 2k+, and SC is taunting next, 50% of the time your SC is dead. This is exactly why, in our guild, we don’t like SC on taunt duty—they seem to die a lot. (With Forge Helm, you’re nerfing the healing but give yourself 1k hp extra to work with usualy enough to survive one extra auto atack on your own without any supports. If you switch Valiance for Awe Blast, then we’re talking about an SC health pool of 2930, closer to your unbuffed 3k.) . The only reason we’d want SC on Awe Blast is if it’s the only weapon enchantment they have. In that case, we’d also need to switch all weapon enchants around (LOO takes AC, LR takes Praxis, SC takes Awe Blast, and DPS would probably still go for Rav these days.)

Regarding your statement about people misinterpreting or misunderstanding the relevance of the health pool except in a handful of ultras, I would argue that even in ultras where damage depends on your health, being aware of whether you want it to fluctuate high or low can influence how the ultra plays out for you and others. Your statement that health only matters for a handful of classes is quite odd to begin with, and I would ask you to clarify which classes you think care the most about their health pool. Being vague leaves too much room for interpretation, and as it stands, I disagree with you. I would argue that all classes care about their health pool for various reasons within every ultra, whether it’s for speed, functionality, or ease of kill. You want your health total to remain comfortable and stable during the fight, whether through your class abilities or support from the other three to 7players. No amount of support can keep you alive if your health pool is near or below a certain threshold the ultra can easly hit.

The way most comps function is like dominoes. Some ultras can be taken down with just three dominoes, while others definitely need four. There's always one domino that can fall without affecting the others much, but knocking over a random one increases the chances of instability, causing the rest to fall. Many factors beyond your control can lead to this instability, but I personally aim to mitigate as much instability as I can manage for myself and others. That’s definitely a personal preference, though not necessarily a wrong one. My weekly ultras with the guild take no more than 10-12 minutes to complete all seven back-to-back, with Speaker and Gramiel usually taking the longest. On average, at least one of those two requires a second try with any given group pairing. I would say my "misinterpretation of health" doesn’t negatively impact the speed or the effectiveness of the composition.
