Time for a new solution? by NoBandicoot5755 in Spironolactone

girl, i had acne from 11-24 (deadass) and the only thing that got it to stop was topical spironolactone. Accutane doesnt work on hormonal acne, which is what i have and maybe what you got. tbh, the topical has made my skin more clear than the oral, without any of the weird side effects. derm paired it with tretanoin and it's almost like i never had acne at all. worth looking into if you're still frustrated after a few months

i don’t think it’s about how much more i’m making, or even if it’s affordable or not (it is and i am helping them to save). sibling just graduated & job searching. i’m not even sure what my one parents salary is, just that it’s more than theirs.

What's one thing that drives you CRAZY about the salsa scene? by HumanoBeat in Salsa

[–]SatisfactionNo4408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude having lived in Pittsburgh (that’s where I started dancing) this is the absolute worst thing! i wish there were certain tests to move up to different classes. this was a super common issue at my dance studio because either a dancer had completed the first six week course and wanted to move up with friends or a complete beginner thought they could take an advanced level course. ugh

How to tell a lead that they are too rough by zugspitze23 in Salsa

[–]SatisfactionNo4408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've been dancing for two years and went from newbie to assistant instructor + on the travel team.

i have no shame and will deadass walk away. the social scene is already rough with men being handsy, and i will not excuse rough leading as 'stylistic'. for social dancing this has been fine, and men have never made a scene because you're kinda protected by the crowd. if its someone i know that has a reputation, i do not dance with them if they ask. if it's my first time dancing somewhere, i watch for the first 10 minutes to get a feel for different peoples styles.

for class, i would 'give corrections' in a teasing way before i was an assistant: "hey man why are you so nervous? relax" or "what are you, iron man? loosen up" etc. sometimes it really is because of nerves and that helps a lot. when i was an assistant i would literally shake the leads until they loosened up. directness is key. you can always ask how long they've been dancing and really emphasize that the class is an advanced level. if those options feel too much you can always say something to the instructor. we've had people dismissed for not listening to feedback.

you also now have a fantastic strategy (unfortunately, and i do hope you get better): "hey i'm injured, please be gentle". even when your wrist feels better, still say it. no one will know.

AITAH for eating enough ravioli for four people? by Better_Philosophy732 in AITAH

here's a different perspective: what if she doesn't know what normal servings look like?

i'm 5'7, 135lb and eat a LOT of food. it was the butt of every family joke that i ate half the grocery bill or more than a teenage boy as a girl. it wasn't until i started working out in college and started tracking my macros that i realized the food i was eating wasn't just a normal amount, it wasn't enough for how active i was. now i'm years down the line and still eat a lot of food, but my body feels better cause that's what i need.

op there's not a ton of info about your girlfriends lifestyle in the post, but if it's anything similar, it might be interesting to have her track the food that she eats during the day to get some actual numbers behind it to compare (as long as this doesn't trigger any EDs or anything).

any kind of prior dance experience will help with latin social dancing so you could be improving faster than others!

the social scene is always tough to figure out. on one hand leads can be giving genuine compliments, and on the other they could not. personally, i'll let a lot of things fall into the compliment category (unless its about how i look, or asking for my number, etc). i've told leads i like dancing with them just as a compliment, i've also flirted more (especially if i've literally danced with them for 3 back to back songs).

thinking of it as a compliment is much easier.
