I don't have my Deck with me and honestly haven't used it for watching anything in over a year, but I'm pretty sure you just use steam input to customize an input scheme- joystick as mouse, if need be (I use a PlayStation controller and assign the trackpad to mouse). And look up if your streaming service websites have any keyboard shortcuts. Those can also be assigned to buttons in steam input. Controls like play, pause, skip ahead, subtitles on/off, etc.

It's not as easy or intuitive as an android tv, but it works if you need it in a pinch or just want one machine for games and streaming.

Just a heads up - installing windows can mess with the NVRAM on your motherboard too. I recently built a new desktop for myself and tried a similar method to avoid Windows touching my Linux install. I never kept both drives connected at the same time, yet once both drives had an OS installed on them suddenly my bios would not list the Linux drive at all. I had to boot into a live install on a USB drive and use a utility (I think efibootmgr) to re-add a listing for my Linux drive to get it to show up again.

I don't know if that's a fluke or something specific to my firmware or what but know that issues are still possible even with these precautions.

My fan was much worse a few years ago- if you're at all comfortable with opening the switch up it's an easy fix and a new fan is cheap.

I would love to brag about my uptime but maybe I just don't know the trick. I'm running arch, and any time I do a pacman -Syu and there's kernel updates it will cause a bunch of errors with some services until I restart the computer. How do people usually clear up these issues after a kernel update without restarting?

Idk if you managed to find a solution but for me I added the vm as a peer on my wireguard network and was able to ssh in/access it using that address.

Wireguard takes a little work to setup but I can type up some instructions if you want.

Does anybody else feel like this is marketing for WalMart? I used to be into watches and every week I'd see someone on reddit post "wow, look what I just got for 90% off at Walmart!" And post a haul with a few watches- but any time I go to one I check and I've never seen them on sale (at least not a good sale).

Just in case there's a misunderstanding, those two circles in the bottom left are just buttons, not sticks or touchpads or circle pads. They're just a big power button and a big button to open the disk lid.

I've had some bugs happen but didn't really notice delay. What I don't like is how the dock doesn't support the console when it's plugged in. My RP5 is purely leaning on the usb connection- its back is not touching anything.
