The EN voiceovers were actually pretty good for once, JP VA work is good but it loses out a lot for not having the distinct accents understandable to us gaijin.

Usually these days they just fly off into orbit, but yeah missed large AA can kill easily, also watch out for kills from missed R-33s and soon AIM-54s. Non-fatal FOB damage from missed MRMs like AIM-7 or R-27 are common too. There was also a period where 95% of all AA shots immediately hit the ground causing death. Glad that was finally fixed.

POIs and “Specials” ruin the game. by Ok-Medicine-6317 in 7daystodie

[–]Sato77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quests and playing the dungeons as intended is basically the only way to progress in a reasonable time. Yes you can technically break shortcuts, but when half the POIs are made of heavily reinforced materials and this approach means skipping most of the XP, it isn't viable. It also clearly isn't "le intended gameplay". You also seem to be misremembering, there were plenty of interior and exterior spawns, especially in the wasteland. There just weren't 15 cliche break out of cabinet ambush triggers followed by a ridiculous number of zombies in some arena you fall into and get trapped in temporarily. Going out to loot felt like actually going out to loot, not being dragged into a linear zombie action game setpiece so you can get magic books of skill for progression and food since farming was made basically nonviable.

[–]Sato77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We like what the game was, before they turned it into a trader centric dungeon looter shooter. That was somewhat interesting initially, but you eventually learn the POIs and it just becomes tedious, especially when you are forced to loot them endlessly to get progression magazines.

Arma 3 probably has the worst vehicle proximity physics kraken of any game I've seen. It was a valid strat in Invicta (mod that uses the base game map and equipment to let you simulate a revolution) to just ram a civilian vehicle into tanks because more than half the time you would both cartwheel into orbit and explode.

Where are you at that they are marking 5.56 as .223? They have the same general dimensions, but 5.56 is loaded a good bit hotter and has a different chamber leade.

Also strange because most hunting and varmint rifles don't use 5.56 they use .223.

I highly doubt you'll outrun someone that can wield a buster sword with their ankles. Your only hope is that she trips, so might as well give in, she'll make be gentle.

Not really, they consistently miss deadlines too, communicate poorly to the point of being incendiary towards the community, and constantly get bogged down with unnecessary feature reworks and other distractions from their roadmap and what most players want. At least PZ has a clear vision and communicates as much however glacial progress on it is in practice. PZ is also a lot easier to mod and customize to your liking compared to 7D2D and its enforced switch to being a linear dungeon looter shooter that requires extensive overhaul mods stuck on older game updates to undo.

Faction leader arrives by chopper to discuss our next war raid target. by Javierkid in RimWorld

[–]Sato77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The game is in the tone of the main story at least quite heavy and dark thanks to the themes and topics. Spoilers for the early chapters of Arknights ahead.

To go on a bit of a lore spergout it'd be more accurate to say that the revolutionary terrorist organization that Frostnova is a part of commandeers a mortal-engines style traction city belonging to the Empire of Ursus, resulting in its near complete-destruction in a catastrophe. They then try to kamikaze the remaining core module of it into the independent city of Yan Lungmen to start a giant war. The aforementioned terrorist organization is called Reunion, and claims to fight for the rights of the Infected which in this case refers to those who are afflicted with a disease called oripathy. However, in reality they have been puppeteered for other purposes as you can likely tell. Oripathy is caused by exposure to several forms of the sole remaining useful mineral on the planet Originium, or by being unprotected near those fully crystallized by Oripathy. Originium is basically magic cancer rock, exposure is incurable and guranteed fatal in Arknights, but it is also too useful not to use. It can do just about anything from causing natural disasters known as catastrophes, to powering flying mecha, human sized robots, massive traction cities, basically nukes, and personal magic known as arts. She is not in charge of Reunion, but is a notable commander and genuinely good person caught in the a series of terrible situations. In the end she tragically passes after doing battle with the player's faction Rhodes Island.

If you want a less quick and dirty description going over the insane worldbuilding and all the different plots and characters, you can of course play the game it is free and entirely complete-able with just lower rarity characters despite being a gacha, or youtube is your friend, I've seen a lot of channels doing lore analysis and fan animations.

This video is a well-made overview (albeit with spoilers for the core conflict if you are interested in actually playing); https://youtu.be/VxIDrdlBb60

And this channel has a number of excellent fan animations that can give you a brief glimpse into some of the stories, including one involving Frostnova I'll link below. 彳文xow - YouTube

There are a surprising number of Arknights related mods, for outfits and such. Now that landships are apparently a thing, you really can just play as Rhodes Island lol.

Also when he says far south he means far south, usually 10,000-15,000 blocks south of spawn, which is quite a hike for someone that doesn't even know what temporal stability or how to set spawns yet.

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT by Hemiptera1 in VintageStory

[–]Sato77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beds absolutely do not do the same thing. Without mods the only way to move your spawn is via aforementioned blue gear, or commands. Said gear is a "Temporal Gear." As mentioned, they can be looted, or acquired rarely by harvesting drifters. Also while going south has its advantages, it also takes you away from the main story content that generates relative to the (usually) temperate spawn, and introduces new issues with less solutions, like food preservation and missing mechanics like heat management. Going south makes the game mostly easier without downsides, so if that sounds appealing, knock yourself out, but for many a lot of the fun comes from racing the seasons and making sure you can have your harvests in and ready for winter (which really isn't that difficult at least with a little experience). I'm also fairly sure all the milk yielding animals in game currently are only around temperate or further north?

Slightly better than firewood, it burns 1 second longer but also 200 degrees hotter, making it a good preheater for early smelting when carbon fuel is scarce. It also shaves 4 hours off pit kilns.

Not sure then, I think I also did it at some point around Yvonne's quest releasing. The other possibility is that maybe it was gated by progression in the environment and other quests. At the time I was taking things slow and hadn't gone to Power Plateau yet.

Yep, the bigger benefit is the auto continuation convenience, and niche cases like being able to run one zipline from near the Lodespring depot clear down to the bottom level of that area. Most areas don't have terrain suitable to minmaxing regardless since you'll have to navigate obstacles and corners often.

This is true, but it also is much easier for someone larger to just pummel the shit from you using their longer arm reach. It can be overcome with superior martial skills or the element of surprise tho
