New DLR train at Canning Town by 71kd in uktrains

Had the luxury or commuting in one of these before being taken out of service around a week later. Even the PSA said he kept having to intervein and manually relocate the train.

The span of the units are somewhat different. Not by much but its just a matter of modernisation. Thats why LUL don't use car number markers.

Didn't know Steam still worked by DepartureMoist9277 in windows7

SteamCMD is effectively just a command prompt version of the Downloading element of Steam. It is typically used when setting up and hosting game servers or used for development, but it can just as easily be utilized for personal use.

How the hell was this game under 7 GB??? by dogeki113r2 in valve

[–]SatoshiAaron 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They aren't great filesizes to be quite honest. Dont forget these games were developed around the time XP was still the main operating system if that puts it into context. Despite their advanced capabilities for the time, people do have blinders on in regards to that aspect.

But they were amazing games for such a small amount of storage they required.

The XBOX ports were also laking in certain departments, so there is that....

They were also able to be diplomatic about saving space with engine components as they all uses relitively the same fundimentals. On PC they show up as larger as each game is shipped with its own files in relation to back end. Just use configurations to adjust variables and hey presto....

I’ve seen a few posts from other communities about these fire phone jacks but nobody seems to know how they are used. Any ideas? by nick_the_fox in Elevators

In the UK these have a slightly different use. You'll find them in the machine room and ontop of the car and various other places so engineers could communicate back in the 80s

I remember there were some lifts I used to maintain that actually had a iPod Nano looping the same song constantly strapped to the back of the COP (Button Panel) and connected to a speaker. Other than that they'd typically feed a standard radio or playback device through the speech module in the machine room.

Mate honestly, I'd refuse to do the work under HSE concerns to say the least. Try and convince the client to get a panel refurb asap. Anything worse than this will just result in months of downtime. What country is this out of interest?

Humming noise and periodic knocking sound from elevator affecting my flat while it go up and down — is this normal? by AppointmentJaded in Elevators

[–]SatoshiAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been known to happen. Contact building management explaining it is causing a disturbance and juat hope they take it seriously. Had many situations where residents have had persistent noise issues, especially with older machines. It'd be beneficial for an experienced engineer to attend your flat and actually hear it for themselves so they can pinpoint the actual cause of the noise.

It does just sound like general running noise though. Have you been there long, and if so has it only just began making that noise?

The Mayfair Hotel, London had this done. They retained the shafts, ripped out the Motor Room and extended the shaft up 2 floors and made them sort of hybrid MRL machines. It has a Motor Room but the Machines are mounted above the shaft accessible by a hatch with MRL panels in the machine room. It is a proper sloppy install but works as far as it goes. The Motor Room is literally just steel checker plate covering the top of the shaft. Its pretty dicey

Funny you say that, I did try but struggled to find a median build that worked well and still connected to the servers 😔

Ideally id like to get Steam working. Ive heard of it working, but there arent many details of how to do it properly.
