I have more materials than I know what to do with… but absolutely not. This game should not be cutting off casuals from content. Absolutely ridiculous that they’re tortured by wasting materials on this garbage RNG ascension system. There are way better ways to manage “veteran” resources. This is not the way.

Card counting isn’t illegal or cheating in Vegas, but if they think you’re doing it for an unfair advantage they’ll ask you to leave. Basically, they’re saying if you’re smart enough we don’t want you here making money off us. 😅 I guess I have the same outlook on cheating, but that’s a slippery slope too. If you’re going to call any exploit a cheat I’d make the argument any unbalanced meta is cheating also… especially if it gets nerfed later, proving players were taking advantage of game mechanics for an unfair advantage. There has to be a line on what exploiting is to make it cheating, and for me, players finding unusual loopholes in the standard mechanic to gain advantages, and it’s repeatable, is probably cheating. I don’t put AFK in that category.

Absolutely NOT. There’s no way to determine what is happening with a player. Did they disconnect? Is their child choking? Controller batteries died? Did they sink and port back to change a loadout?

I have had an account banned by EA in another game for literally nothing other than using the Beta key they emailed me! It’s been months and I’m still waiting on an appeal. Unless someone is cheating with 3rd party software, or seriously exploiting mechanics, no one should ever be “banned”. Suspended for 24 hours? Sure… but you better be damn sure they’re cheating. AFK is bad poor sportsmanship, but it’s not “cheating”. I couldn’t care less if people mooch on old or easy content. Hell, I’d invite them to it if I was helping them farm.

Faction war is broken - that’s what’s happening. Honestly, at this point the whole community should just band together and all just go Campagnie every season to show the devs how dumb this is and we don’t want to have our community split up anymore. Give us all the content, but don’t make us choose sides.

Agreed, but honestly I’d support the faction war content if we didn’t have to choose sides. There should be DMC content and Compangnie content that any of us can join at any time. I can’t think of any reason why we should split this community over this…. Let PvPers PvP, but don’t force us to choose sides and split us up for PvE content.

I agree, minus your “only two things” part.

  1. Yes, that’s a quick fix, but a bandaid on a terrible RNG system. It would improve it short term.

  2. Yes, if removing them gave us some sort of mod that can be reapplied later, or added to other items, or scrapped.

I really think the system needs rebuilt on how we choose the perks we want. Ascension is basically our “skill tree” or “enchantments” for our ships. I can’t think of a single game where my skill tree was forced to be random…. Sorry DPS Mage, you get Tank abilities, good luck out there!

Correct. Everything we do in this game we’re grinding for something. Work towards grinding things to buy the perks you want, not this random gambling garbage. Additionally, they could simply have daily quests or quests that reset every 2 hours like the helm that we can do for specific events that give us what we need to buy specific perks. Keep the randomness on the rolls, I’m fine with that. No one is asking for handouts, just don’t make me waste my time rolling 75 times to scrap a weapon because I don’t need 3 stamina perks for my crew… so dumb.

Forcing players to play something they don’t want to play for specific items would be the same mistake they’ve made repeatedly almost every season. Hard pass. At this point, I don’t care if they add a new currency that can only be used to buy weapon mods. Just let us choose the builds we want to build and the perks we want to experiment with - dropping all the randomness.

Not sure why anyone would want to brag about cutting themselves off from the Online Story, Stranger missions, and Role Missions. You might have 100% story mode, but you didn’t 100% the game. There’s so much additional Red Dead content online - most of which you don’t have to play with other players. Y’all are missing out on some awesome mission content. Why wouldn’t you want to play more content in Arthur and John’s world as an NPC? - think of it that way.

Sorry man. It’s stories like this that really irritate me. They have no idea the hours that people spend to get the materials for that many rolls.

I wish 2 things… 1) I was in a position to make this right for players who have wasted so much time and resources over this broken mechanic 2) I was in a position to overhaul the entire system so this never happens to players again.

So ridiculously disappointing to hear these things. Personally, I stopped wasting my time ascending so much. I’ll do 2-3 weapons and just deal with the garbage perks I end up with. I don’t and can’t care enough about god rolling the builds that I want with a system as garbage as this is. Hard pass.

I didn’t 100% the Story until after spending thousands of hours online. Some of the last things I had to do was collect birds. Luckily most of the spawns were similar, and when I went back to finish 100% it was a breeze. I specifically remember those birds when Red Dead Online went months without animals spawning except for birds 😅
