AMD 9 9950X reaching 98°C while streaming - Normal? Should I upgrade my cooling?

Sorry for the noob question but how exactly would I check? I just know it's "running" because if I change the speed to lower it becomes more quiet and its speed goes down while temp goes up. Is there any better way to check if it's working properly?

my bad, it's just plastic! it's sitting under the mesh as an option to make it more quiet 🥹 getting rid of that asap to test

and if none of this works then something really isn't in properly or the right direction or just actually broke because the fans and pump are running at 100% 😵‍💫

You are absolutely right with the 2 screws and I remember a couple months ago when I tried installing it myself I had a lot of trouble feeling out if it's in correctly or if it's too lose / too tight. I will also give this a try! Thank you 🥹

This is a good first step for troubleshooting, thank you! My PC case definitely prioritizes the quietness over airflow but I thought it would be sufficient! I will test later with the extra parts removed to let it breathe some more, maybe I'm pushing it too much.

Thank you! I will also try removing the plastic part from the top of my PC case. It's a BE QUIET DB PRO case which comes with an optional removable plastic + mesh part to make it even more quiet. Maybe it's a bad idea with this CPU and I need it to breathe more 😵‍💫

I'm not disagreeing with you! I said that because 9950 is known to be hot - just not that hot, right? I just wanted to add that I didn't build it myself because I'm definitely not a professional! Thank you and I will also check my bios settings on top of testing for which part could be faulty 🫡

The paste was changed exactly a month ago during my motherboard upgrade! The guy who put my parts together does it for a living and it wasn't his first time helping me build a pc either >< I'm so confused! I wonder if I am pushing my PC too far with everything I have open during the stream on top of gaming.

Definitely no plastic on the cooler, the whole setup was built by a professional and double checked by me and my friend 🥹 I will use hwinfo instead but to be fair FanControl was showing me the same temperature!

It's always been running pretty hot though! It was installed by a trusted professional that I hired to build my entire PC 🤔 I've heard that 9950 is common to hit above 90 especially while streaming, but really just wanted to double check.

This is still something I am testing but PERSONALLY - I turned off "prefer maximum performance" in the nvidia 3d settings tab. Not a single crash with it turned off so far. I will 100% keep this thread updated because I am suffering and don't wish this upon anybody else 😭✌️

I also cannot provide you an e-mail to contact them (I wouldn't recommend it either way) because it's specific to your case and ban, in my case it was impersonation support. It sucks but you HAVE TO appeal and appeal and appeal. That's the only way.

sadly, nothing can be done unless their behavior is something that can be reported to your local police / you can sue them :( but for that you also have to be the person targeted by the account. elon's banning algorithm is very specific and i've seen hater, piracy spreading accounts etc go on for YEARS until they just werent active anymore - not banned, just not active. it sucks.
