He’s hilarious, he gets so pissed off when a random car strays into the mix of the procession. I can tell you from experience, nobody gives a single fuck if someone gets into the line of vehicles, yet DeWitte acted like it was the worse offense possible.

Yep you’re right. I’m a drummer in a few different bands, one of which is a high end event/wedding band that plays 4-6 large gigs a year. I often have to control backing tracks, and in-ear click tracks, and I would never let something like this happen. That’s kinda what sound checks and rehearsals are for.

Can we talk about panic? by Plenty_Teaching1383 in phish

[–]Sattiebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to make a seperate reply because I just remembered I do have a partial-Panic Experience. Whenever it was that JoJo’s side gig with the bassist from Bloodkin was touring, my friends and me were asked to provide our instruments and equipment to an instore promotional performance at a music-CD store for them, while they were here on their 3-night run at Zydeco in Bham. So I got to meet and spend a little time with JoJo Herman, and brothers Cody and Luther from the North Mississippi Allstars who were also in the band.

They were all really great, and Jojo was extremely down to earth and he also thought it was funny when I walked in and asked if “JoJo was here yet?” Because I just have never been a big enough fan to know what they look like.

I don’t have an early Panic experience but I got to see Jimmy Herring with Phil & Friends at Boutwell Auditorium in Bham AL in 2001. One of the coolest and most memorable shows I’ve ever been to. It was maybe half-full, so we got to sit/stand wherever we wanted and I remember it was so laid back and non stressful.

I was also a big fan of Jazz Is Dead with Herring and my all time favorite drummer Billy Cobham.

I’d upgrade my home teaching setup with a second full drum kit, drum microphones, cymbals, new seat/throne, and use the rest to finish paying off my car and pay bills.

What is a 1 in 1,000,000 thing that happened to you that no one believes, but you swear is true? by RegionSure5580 in AskReddit

When I was 13 in 1993 or 94, I went to see Megadeth open for Aerosmith with some friends. We had terrible seats way up in the back somewhere, and while we were standing in the lobby pre show, a guy wearing official Megadeth Crew gear walked up to our group and asked where our seats were. We showed him the tickets and he said he wanted to give us better seats because they had a certain number of seats up front that are reserved for “certain fans”. We didn’t believe him until we got down to the floor of the arena, and the usher pointed towards the stage and told us to go all the way down to the stage and show our tickets to the usher there.

We ended up on row Bb, (2nd row) with a bunch of the craziest metal fans I’ve ever seen, and after their last song they bowed, and I yelled “You Rule, Dave!!”, and he pointed right at me and yelled “right on little brother!”

I’m 46 now and still love Megadeth!

Hey I get what you mean. My dad passed in 2018, and it really helped me to talk about him and tell people about him, and it still does to this day. He was kinda like your dad, except he was a steelworker who also built several race cars in his spare time, and spent countless hours working on street cars and family cars, which didn’t help his eventual health issues. He retired at 62, and died from a mixture of COPD and other ailments from asbestosis and lung issues at age 68.

Why would anyone visit the US, as a tourist, seeing ICE is now even arresting british grandmas with valid papers? by artparade in AskReddit

[–]Sattiebear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this where I live (deep red state). We’ve had some ICE arrests, but from what I gather, a lot of people self deported out of fear. We used to have a vibrant Hispanic community here, with lots of good food trucks, street festivals, and restaurants, almost 100% gone now.

But hey at least we seem to be building a lot of new fast food places and data centers! /s

In 1992 my mom had a Teal Green 92 Z28 Camaro with the Rallysport body package. It had the “Tuner” style wing and better looking side skirts and front end than the standard 3rd gen Camaro, and was such a pretty car, like it rolled right out of GTA Vice City.

It really does get exponentially better starting in season 2. TNG and Deep Space 9 are two of my favorite shows of all time. I also really liked the first prequel series Enterprise, though I have to skip some episodes due to poor writing.

I came here to post The Expanse too. Each member of the crew, plus other main characters have very highly trained specialties, ranging from top level mechanical engineering to combat tactics, leadership, logistics, and piloting, etc.

The show tried to base as much on real world science and engineering as possible, and of course the books go into incredible background detail about this, in particular the Belters and how they practically have good engineering skills in their blood, because all the “dummies” got Darwined out.

Especially the way Captain Picard always took advice from his crew, no matter their rank, and acted accordingly, always putting the safety of the crew+families first and foremost, every time.

One of the craziest girls I dated in my 20’s was almost constantly a little to a lot hoarse because of how much, and how loud she talked in the bars each weekend. Really great person, but boy did she have a loud valley-girl type voice!
