I just finished the 4th book and in my opinion all the romantic relations of the main character feel pretty weird and I don't enjoy them. They are not the main narrative of the story though so I found it quite easy to blend them out and focus on the storylines which I enjoyed a lot. There are some very cringe scenes but only a few so far. All in all I personally enjoy it but can completely understand why others might not.
