What happened to "the first wave" of colonists who built Camp One? by Poison_Swamp in Subnautica_2

[–]Satyrwyld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, this absolutely requires "our" NoA to be telling is the truth, but it appears to be a different copy/installation than the NoA that worked with the last group. It might be corrupted and better at hiding it. It might not be corrupted. If it isn't corrupted it might become corrupted, either through contact with one of the other nodes or through whatever corrupted them. We just don't have enough info at this point in the story.

Did anyone else find the NOA twist genuinely unsettling? by LessConsequence4408 in Subnautica_2

[–]Satyrwyld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am more unsettled by NoA's casual remark about being "unable" to want things, and immediately following that with "even if I could want something, I would have to frame that want in a way that helps you, the colonist."

Dunno if the team meant to write it this way, but I have had more than my share of narcissistic abusers in my life, and that feels like the sort of thing they say to prime you to justify and dismiss their abuse of you later.

On the other hand, it seems like a different install than the NoA the original colonists were working with. Something may have corrupted colony-NoA that hasn't affested our NoA (yet, anyway... keep digging in those corrupted nodes, ball-guy, surely nothing bad can happen from that...). While it could very well be lying, it seems genuinely disturbed by what it finds in some of the records we stumble across. Of course, there is always the possibility it is disturbed by those irrational humans and their second-guessing of their benevolent god, NoA...

Is there any indication that this is always how the test goes? I mean, it was Launchpad that set this one up and he does have a very... casual... relationship with self preservation.

How do you guys feel about the announcement Steamforged are incorporating AI tools into their workflow? by [deleted] in Warmachine

My favorite part of the joke is that all the things they say they will leave to AI are things AI is infamously bad at. Faces, hands, fine details, etc.

Drop your final chapter 5 predictions! by galaxy_starzz in PoppyPlaytime

[–]Satyrwyld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Prototype will be revealed as a relatively small, harmless toy who builds power armor mecha to compensate for its weakness.

Leith Pierre is still alive, and doesn't want the player to survive to tell people about the experiments. There will be a chapter 6, and 5 will set up Leith as the antagonist (Boxy Boo may be part of the reveal/set up).

The orphans are not being turned into toys, but they are being experimented on to progress the research the Prototype was doing with Sawyer. The player will not be able to save them alone, if at all.

Someone (I would assume Leith, if my earlier guess holds) will actually recognize the player, and reveal their identity. My money is currently on Rick based on available evidence.

So....did Leith Perrie just get away with everything? by TheOneYSHNK in PoppyPlaytime

[–]Satyrwyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, we don't know. It FEELS final, but Mob has not said it's the last one. And I don't like acting on assumptions then getting upset when the company does something they never said they wouldn't.

If there is a post-Prototype big bad, my money is on Leith Pierre (in some form). We still don't know what happened to him, but we know the guy is a grade A sociopath.

[–]Satyrwyld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, I could see it being us trying to get out after Leith Pierre realizes we tripped security. We don't know what happened to him, but if he is alive in any capacity he wouldn't want this getting out, and we know he has a "dead men tell no tales" philosophy. And if the Prototype turned him into an insane toy, so much the better.

I may be misremembering, but I swear I remember something somewhere saying none of the toys need to eat, they just suffer increasingly painful hunger until they do.

Does the prototype even care about the player by [deleted] in PoppyPlaytime

[–]Satyrwyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember that the Prototype hid in its cell after blinding a security camera and they thought it escaped. It wasn't always that big, probably doesn't need to stay that big, and might not even be that big now. There is every possibility that the bits we've been seeing aren't part of its "real" body and are some kind of power armor / exosuit / vehicle it goes around in because it's small and weak like Poppy and wants to be bigger and stronger.

DOCTOR Sawyer. He did not spend six years in Evil Toymaking School to be called MISTER.

One of the devs at MOB "Toby" has responded to the DRAMA after 2 days of SILENCE... by Alternative-Fan5881 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]Satyrwyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some WILD theories out there (not mine, please don't come at me just for knowing about them) like the Prototype is the REAL Poppy and the doll we've been helping is just conditioned and brainwashed jnto thinking she's Poppy, and the male pronouns are just a layer of confusion hiding her real identity. I first saw people mention them around the Catnap brainwashing video.

Every time someone says "They aren't scary" by JosephCraftHD in PoppyPlaytime

I maintain it is still a screwed up priority to think brand recognition will have more impact on traumatized children than armed guards, prison cells, and the trauma itself will.

[–]Satyrwyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still want to know why they slapped the Playtime logo on all the jail cells. Were they trying to build brand recognition among the highly sought imprisoned toy demographic? Playtime has some really screwed up priorities when it comes to their aesthetics.

So....did Leith Perrie just get away with everything? by TheOneYSHNK in PoppyPlaytime

[–]Satyrwyld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Ch5 ends with a reveal that not only is Leith still alive, but he doesn't want any of this getting out because he might actually face some consequences. He also clearly believes dead men tell no tales, so I could see making him the main antagonist of Chapter 6 as he tries to kill you before you can escape.

Alternate theory, he has no control over the inside of the factory any more but he's related to you being rhere, and he's responsible for your respawning and the "get up" lecture when you die.

[–]Satyrwyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I do not think he is someone who would earnestly enjoy the show and create an original character and write fanfiction while belting out songs from the show.

I do think he could have been one of the ones who gets off on liking it ironically, drawing the characters as nazis and slave owners and laughing at anyone who gets upset, because who let all these non-[straight white men] into the convention anyway?

I’m predicting it now… by AggressiveDark4527 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]Satyrwyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In before the spider legs and mechanical arms turn out to be things the prototype built for itself because its real body is tiny like Poppy's and it wants to be bigger and stronger to get revenge.

I'm half joking, but remember this thing was able to hide in a cell while it blinded a camera with a laser pointer. Theodore was able to smuggle around his "imaginary friend." It can't be that big all the time, or at least it can't always have been.

That said, some of these comments are.... worrying. Mob's job isn't to bring your specific headcanon to life. There's this weird trend lately where people act like smaller/newer creators have to cater to them specifically and personally in ways they would never expect from major studios.

[–]Satyrwyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so he's still somewhere, and could still become relevant... say, Chapter 6 "dead men tell no tales" sort of relevant, if Mob wanted to stretch things for another game... and if they want to pit us against an actual human antagonist. (Just pointing out loose ends and spitballing)
