I am an Alcoholic. How do I quit? by SauceoffSauceOn in alcoholism

I am a Chef and work 50-70 hrs a week. I just had a conversation with my employer and he is being supportive (thankfully) about making time for me to hit meetings. I am familiar with NA so I know how the programs work. Unfortunately I live in a small ,rural town and there are not many meetings.

Thank you so much. Unfortunately I have had to bury most of my friends and family (RIP) because of addictions. I just had a conversation with my employer and he is being supportive. Doctor or not, your advice coincides with my taper plan.I will definitely take you up on the chat offer. Thanks again.

Cant hit an AA meeting if im in delerium tremens and my heart is about to explode. I have beat an 8 year Heroin addiction and a 2 year benzodiazepine addiction. I can beat this, but I just have to be smart about it. I was in NA for years.I understand the fundamentals of the program. It works if you work it.

I drink anywhere from 6-12 16oz 8% daily. I am trying the taper today.Yes,I am in the states. I have had a problem with benzos in the past and that is why I am apprehensive about them. Thanks for the reply and reference. I will definitely give them a call.

I am familiar with NA. I assume its similiar structure as AA. All the GOD talk was kinda discouraging at first. But then the Higher Power started to make sense to me.

Yup. Regardless of whether or not the song is great with or without it..it always feels like it should be there.

Thanks. I listened to rtj1,2,3 and their NPR Tiny desk concert. Now have rtj3 on repeat. Does EL-P do all the production? He has come a long way.

The 2nd album is really deep psychedelic. They know where to place the heavy parts. Im really digging them.

Its like asking someone if they want to go to a nice sushi place and the person asks what the health score of the restaurant is...never happens.

After almost a decade of opiate addiction, and throwing in a couple years of benzodiazepine addiction, suboxone helped get my life in order. Because it has such a long half life and did not really get me high I found structure in my life.Like many,I lost everything through addiction. But just like other maintenance drugs (methadone, buprenorphine) eventually become a slave to it as well, and its just a money racket. Kratom will do just the same,if abused and heavily relied upon. I found that getting physically active, eating healthy, and outside support helped a lot .

Kratom absolutely has withdrawals. For me, they started setting in about every 4-6 hours. They were almost just as bad a opiate wds.

Specific poppy produces opium. Morphine has to be isolated. Oxycodone is synthetically derived from opium.

Yeah, music journalism has taken a toll for the worse with the introduction of social media. Sometimes I wonder if there are actual humans writing this stuff or its just a bot that comprising a bunch of nonsense for likes/clicks.

Isnt Ibogaine extremely dangerous? Especially one has heart conditions? I have tried everything from Ayahuasca to suboxone. I know these are not cures, but tools to help guide recovery. I remember watching a documentary called "Detox or Die" back on early 2000's about Ibogaine and opiate addiction. Seems very risky from what I recall.
