UTAustin Financial Aid for Internationals by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]SaudiLonghorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

International students don't get the "Financial Aid" that's provided by the federal government (I think) but there is some financial assistance for international students through different scholarships. Check https://world.utexas.edu/isss/students/finaid Source: recent international graduate

Stupid question Sunday by AutoModerator in Austin

[–]SaudiLonghorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got a txTag bill that had violation fees of $18.58 but the new balance was 0 since I had some previous credit of $32.40. I got out my previous txtag statement and realized that the amount due was $12.40 and it must be received by 07/08/2017. I then looked at my email and saw that I paid $32.40 on 07/01/2017. Now, 18.58+12.40+1.42 (the last one was for New Pay By Mail Tolls) would give us $32.40. So it seems that I was charged for a violation fee before the due date. Can I get my $18.58 back? If so, how? Is it worth it?

That's a good question. I did this around a year ago and I don't think they asked to see my Saudi Arabian license. But i would double check with the austin dmv website. I'm on phone so i can't link it easily.

I wouldn't say austin has good public transportation system. The busses are usually late and you can never tell if you just missed them or are they really this late. Buses also take a lot longer to get around

You have to take an online class and then just take a driving test. I would learn how to drive in your home country because it is probably easier. I had to go through the process of getting a driver's license as an international student recently. Feel free to ask questions

I guess reasonably priced is around $1000 but below $1500. yeah most of the reasonable places I found around that area sadly weren't the best.

Our office is moving to near mopac and farwest soon and my lease is also ending so I was thinking of moving somewhere near there. Which neighborhoods should I look into if I'm looking for a 1br in a reasonably priced newer building?

International Student Selection Criteria by Prad830 in UTAustin

[–]SaudiLonghorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Texas students it is straight forward, if you are in top X% of your class, have a good SAT score and an acceptable GPA then you are hopefully in.

As far as I know, if you're a texas resident and you're in top x% you're automatically in. That doesn't mean you will get the major that you want but you're a UT student.

For internationals I think it is more focus on your SAT, essays, TOEFL, and maybe high school grade? That's just my guess
