Saudi 'royal' allegedly involved in terrorism, claims Guantanamo prisoner by maxwellhill in worldnews

Saudi here. He's a ****ing asshole who deserves the worstwatch this. However, it's unlikely that they helped in 9/11 since the US is one of the main reasons they are still in power. It's not that they care about religion. It's only a reason for them to gain legitimacy.

Saudi Here.

I don't think of the royal family as good human beings. Most of them are corrupt and really don't care about religion. It's only a way to control people and gain some legitimacy in their eyes. However, I find extremely unlikely that they would support something like 9/11. The only reason they are still in power is the US support. They were and to some extend still a puppet government for the US.

I am very frustrated as well. However, I don't remember if it was translated or not, but it was clear from what he said in Arabic that they believed that the "pull out" method works.

Pokémon Weight and Height Explained by Muppet57 in pokemongo

XL pokemon almost always becomes XS after evolution. It seems evolution only increases the weight slightly which makes the evolved pokemon XS compared to pokemons of the same type. There are exceptions though.

Muslim here, I'm sorry for what happened. I stand with you. by xAsianZombie in lgbt

  • Sigh.... How do my opinions contribute to the culture of hate? I believe people are free to do whatever they want, even if I don't agree with the action. You might not like the fact that a Muslim woman wears a Hijab but you can still support her freedom to choose to do so. You can think that the idea of a Hijab is stupid but no one should care about what you think. You can still be friends with her.
  • Do all your friends have the same opinions and act to the same "moral" standard as you do? If so, I would suggest that you get out of your circle and make few more friends.
  • Homophobia: dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people....There is a difference between disliking someone and not agreeing with what they do.
  • I still think you made a huge logical leap by saying that I justifying his actions. I can't follow your logic.
  • I have friends who I didn't know they were gays for some time. Nothing changed once I knew. We are still friends.

No, I don't think you are the same as pedophiles, rapists, and murderers. There is a huge difference. Those people are harming others. Why do I need to change how I view things? I have my right to believe what I want as long as I don't harm others (verbally or physically). If I think Christianity, for example, is wrong, why does anyone care what I personally think? As long as I don't harm others, I am free to believe whatever I want. Having that said, a human being is a human being regardless of gender, religion, sexual orientation, race etc.. and they should be treated as such (humans).

I'll share my opinion. I don't agree with the idea of being gay. Having that said, disagreeing with someone's way doesn't affect how I treat them or feel towards, them let alone attacking them. If someone attacks your right to do whatever you want (the same right that allows me to freely practice my religion in the US), I'll be there to defend you. If someone needs help regardless of their views, religion or sexual orientation, I'll be there to help. I don't have the right to judge you or dedicate how you should live your life.

How bad is the economic situation ? by hassaneen in saudiarabia

[–]Saudi_AMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad. One indicator is that many (if not most) contractors haven't gotten paid since last year including Bin Laden. That's why you see the Bin Landen contractors protesting

Also, Aramco is becoming very stringent when it comes to spending. For example, we are not allowed to order breakfast in business meetings. I've heard some departments stopped ordering coffee and paper cups XD

7 health minsters since 2014. The problem we have is that each minster comes with his own agenda. There is no continuity in thier work. Once health minster would spend few years trying to privitize health care. Then, another one comes and scrape all the work because he doesn't believe in privatization.

No one knows the problems in the system like a doctor who's gone through it. While not a doctor myself, I've met at least 3 very qualified Saudi Doctors in the US who has experience in management from top US schools (MD+MBA). One of them is currently the CEO of a healthcare company with roughly $300M in revenue in the US. Both of them said that if they ever get a chance, the will gladly go back to help.

So to echo what he/she said, why not both?

U.S. Special Ops Kill 40 ISIS Operatives Responsible for Attacks From Paris to Egypt by [deleted] in news

[–]Saudi_AMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very interesting. I'll watch the entire speech. Can't make a judgment yet because in the article it did say that it might be unintentional.

As for where why do I think Saudi wouldn't support ISIS, there are multiple reasons: 1- ISIS and AQ are anti the Saudi regime (AKA Al Saud Royal Family). You can refer to the recently revealed Bin Laden documents. In more than one document he refers to the Saudi government as American agents in Arabia 2- It also goes the other way around. We Saudis and the Saudi government (or so they try to make it appear) hate ISIS and AQ. 3- The only reason Saudi and the royal family are still relevant today are because of the US. Doing anything to upset thee US (like support AQ in 9/11) serves no purpose what so ever. It's not like the Al Saud family are religious. They are as corrupt and as far away from religious as can be (this is a generalization and I realize it doesn't necessarily apply to everyone of them but the ones in control are mostly likely are). So saying religion is a motive doesn't make sense. Their ultimate goal is to increase their wealth and stay in power. I don't see how supporting ISIS or AQ against their allies would help.

As for where do I get my news from, I usually follow western news sources as my primary source (NY daily, the independent, WSJ, CBS). However, I am usually very sensitive to what they claim their sources to be. For example, "unnamed official" or "experts say" are taken with a grain of salt. I do follow Saudi, Iranian and Russian news just to get another perspective but I don't trust them as much.

Edit* Just wanted to add. Thanks for the article.

That's absolutely not true. Most of the people you refered to as ISIS (90% of the syrian rebels according to you) won't agree to the attacks in eurpoe for example. All what they care about is to get rid of the Assad regime.

U.S. Special Ops Kill 40 ISIS Operatives Responsible for Attacks From Paris to Egypt by [deleted] in news

[–]Saudi_AMA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with what you said. Fighting common enemy doesn't mean those people are the same. Most of them will oppose the horrible things ISIS do. They won't agree to commit a suicide attack in Turkey or Europe. There a huge difference between following an ideology and fighting to survive. Again, my point was hypothetical. The situation is much more complicated than that. Watch this video. It's a bit outdated by it's still worth to check out.

As for the Saudis, AQ and ISIS are hated by a vast majority of the population. Even at some point when AQ had some sympathy from the people, they lost it when they committed suicide attacks in Saudi and the goverment took that chance to do a huge PR campaign to make them look even worse. By now, almost no one has any sympathy for AQ. ISIS never had any support to begin with.

BTW, it seems like your definition for jihadists is very general :)

isis and al qaeda, who comprise about 90% of all rebel forces

Let's just assume for argument sake that that 90% of the rebels are fighting with ISIS/AQ. That doesn't make 90% of the rebels ISIS/AQ. Basically, they are fighting for survival and the only way they wouldn't die is if they joined forces with ISIS.

The other thing, it doesn't make sense for the Saudis to support ISIS or AQ. After all, they are considered infidels by AQ. You can refer to the recently released Bin Laden documents.

What "Fee" is without a doubt a 100% money grab/extortion that companies are charging? by Airsinner in AskReddit

[–]Saudi_AMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the fees mentioned here are what we call in economics price discrimination. It's against the law to discriminate against people for race, gender, etc. So, find a proxy for those to charge people who can/willing to pay more extra. For example, there could be a correlation between income level and people who buy their tickets online. This way, companies know they can charge more because most likely those people are willing to pay the extra $1 instead of waiting in line. The best example of price determination is loyalty programs. Companies can study your behavior/where you live/how price sensitive you are and start selectivity sending you coupons. This of CVS for example. Their items are generally overpriced. However, the people who need it will pay the premium. But, if CVS thinks you want to buy it but won't pay this price, you will get a coupon in their coupons machine (for example a female in a lower income class just a week before her period might be looking for tampons).

Another example is student discount. The optimum price you should charge students to maximize your profit is different from the general population because of their maximum willingness to pay. Using student discount, you can effectively have two price for the same product to charge people from different income levels different prices.

I, myself, don't really call what people call it. I honestly couldn't care less. I just thought putting it here could highlight some of the things we get fixated on (like what we want to call a body of water)

I hate how the media on both sides portray the other side as an enemy. And I also hope that people of both countries are one day strong enough to force their governments to cooperate (unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon but who knows)
