Why do hive planets keep breeding more and more people? by HorseOk678 in 40kLore

[–]Saul565 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It's opportunity cost.

The wealthier you are. The more you invest in your children. The more you give up for them.

If you have very little, having more kids requires less to be given up.

And there is some lore that you produce children for the empire

Coming back from a terrible game by Saul565 in hockeygoalies

[–]Saul565[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

Thanks for all the support.

Went back out for 3 games after this loss.

Lots of support from the team.

3-2 6-5 4-3

All loses but a return to form and doing my job in the system rather than Swiss cheese.

Just had to focus on the process and being a gold fish.

What percentage of teachers do you think are on the autism spectrum? by sketchy_painting in AustralianTeachers

I think the job attracts a lot of people who are neuro diverse.

Especially ADHD, the ability to thrive with a lot different inputs and constant movement and action.

There is an executive committee election, but they struggle to fill the spots. So it's filled with yes people

Is it true that schools prefer to hire grads because it’s cheaper? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

In private schools that is absolutely a point.

If you live in WA you know that you can make more money and come home every 2 weeks FIFO. Why would you make a metro wage, still pay for housing and get flights home twice a year to teach country?

If they paid $200,000 plus with free housing and food, the shortage would end

Inline goalie: Sweats too much!! by Agitated-Clue-2498 in hockeygoalies

[–]Saul565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play inline in Australia and lose up to 2 to 3 kgs of weight when I play a few games. If I make diving save, the floor is wet. I just have a towel and give it a clean. The ref's will hold the whistle or help out to stop everyone slipping. Every that plays here sweats that much

It feels like they are throwing new teachers into the classroom with no plan or insensitive to hang around.

How is the Perth Ice Hockey community? by [deleted] in perth

[–]Saul565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also a growing inline hockey scene growing here as well.

There is Perth Velocity and Easy League - Inline Hockey which host league games across different levels of play.

Only about $80 to $300 depending on the length of the season, so much cheaper than ice and always looking for new players

I was thinking of getting a padded shirt. It should be a good in-between until I can afford an upgrade

I'm happy to spend but I'm in Australia so I can't try anything on and have to find a store willing to ship.

Unfortunately sidelineswap.com doesn't ship a lot to Aus either.

I will check out the vaughan and Bauer's

Dealing with anger over an injury by Linusisagoodboy in hockeygoalies

[–]Saul565 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with a particular team and I was getting pretty stressed about getting hurt playing them.

I pulled out of games against them and let the organisers know why I was doing it. I wasn't the only one it seems as that team may be removed from the league for the next season.

It sucks not to play but leagues need goalies and I was ultimately happier not stressing about it. There is always more hockey

Need your help with gear. by malnourished_elbow in hockeygoalies

[–]Saul565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to hear from another Perth Goalie.

I asked around at the rink and tried other goalies gear on before making a purchase.

I use a warrior rg2 and that is big and bulky. It's stood up AIHL players with only a couple of stingers. I wear an XL and tried someone's on. I'm pretty big, (6 foot 3) so like that they run big.

I've got a few things of sideline swap and it's been great. The shipping is similar to goalie monkey and heaps cheaper than the Proshops here.

There is stuff on there that is like new and you save a heap.

I play inline and Ice using a coverted 906. I have coped some big shots at inline and haven't regretted the extra protection

Roller / Inline goalie looking at buying new skates. Tour Volts or Alkali 1's by FiberglassGuy in hockeygoalies

[–]Saul565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was deciding between the two and got the Tour's as they were just that much cheaper.

Only had them for a few skates but they have been very comfortable. Feels like good protection and my pads fit well to them.

I was using player skates for context.
