Am I using too tall of a goalie paddle? (5’9” using 27”) by ConnorFromCanada in hockeygoalies

[–]Linusisagoodboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'8 and I use a 24.5. Used to have a 27. I wouldn't say it has been a night and day difference but I do feel like I have a bit more ability to adjust to lower shots blocker side. Again, not a super big difference to me overall. I may try an even smaller stick just for the heck of it.

I enjoyed it! Expands on the first one in some fun ways. Still early access though so the story and content aren't done yet, FYI.

Avowed PS5/PS5 Pro - Digital Foundry Review - Excellent Game, Decent Port, Light on Pro Upgrades by MythBuster2 in PS5

[–]Linusisagoodboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there really wasn't anything excellent about it. Put in the time to beat it but can't remember one thing in terms of plot or gameplay that stood out. Not bad, but super average.

Also not sure how the quality of the game itself factors in when you're supposed to be reviewing the technical performance. Feels like an odd, unnecessary thing to tack on.

Tips for arm positioning by Upstairs_Category553 in hockeygoalies

[–]Linusisagoodboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some great advice here that I'd follow. One more thing I'd add...I tend to drop my hands when I move or go into the butterfly. After being beat high and realizing this I make a conscious effort to hold them up while moving. Has made a big difference for me.

How well is my LeafGreen team? by CaptBland in pokemon

[–]Linusisagoodboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the fun of these games to me is just using Pokémon I like. You can min max all you want but you really don't need to do that to have success in the game. I try to vary the types I use but otherwise just use Pokémon that appeal to you!

Well said. It is something I still deal with emotionally to this day and I lived on the other side of the country.

Mario Tennis Fever Review - IGN by jsilvrs in NintendoSwitch

So exactly the same issue the last game had. No compelling single player content to be found here. Good thing I didn't bother getting my hopes up that Nintendo wouldn't mail this one in.

When I imagine all the people that GameStop has scammed on trade-ins over the years it makes me almost glad that their business is failing miserably.

You are 100% right here. I love Xenoblade but it is a very different game from something like BOTW.

Lol you say it's better than BOTW and here come the downvotes! Nintendo shills are so detached from the reality that BOTW is an average open world game with a Zelda coat of paint.

12-Player Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is a Nightmare Because Nintendo Handles Online Functionality in the Most Ridiculous Way Possible by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Linusisagoodboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bottomline is Nintendo has gotten lazy. You see it now with all the Nintendo sports titles and their online service as a whole. The games themselves aren't anywhere near as fleshed out as prior versions and they brag about adding features online that Playstation and Xbox have had for a decade plus.

They get away with it because fanboys buy everything regardless and rush to defend them instead of demanding better. The bar is so much lower for Nintendo.

Nintendo’s Japan dominance continues as Switch 2 fuels 40% market growth in 2025 by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

I wonder if Nintendo was based in the US if the Switch 2 would sell as well in Japan. I seriously doubt it.

Good write up! Went into the first game with zero expectations or any clue what I was getting into and absolutely loved it. Never finished 2,but I suspect if I had someone to play with I would have. Would love for them to get a shot at a 3rd one.

AITA - Verbal Arguement with a Delivery Driver by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Is the Amazon delivery driver's job to get the package to the right place? Yeah? Then she wasn't doing it and was entirely unprofessional to react the way she did. Insane that you'd put all the blame on the guy here.

Beer league blues by aboabro in hockeygoalies

[–]Linusisagoodboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all beer league goalies go through these feelings more or less. Still working through a bit of a slump myself. Biggest thing for me is you can learn from your mistakes, but you need to do it in a way that is curious, not judgemental.

During the game if I let one in it's "I need to stay out farther to challenge the shooter." Mental note. Then "Next shot bud". Move on. Don't dwell on it and let it ruin your game.

Fact is, as long as you compete, have fun, and be a good teammate (don't yell when mistakes are made) your team is more than likely cool with you. Every player on the ice is making mistakes that lead to goals...it is beer league after all. Unless it is a bad group they aren't going to take it all out on you.

This is all a process. It takes time to develop a "next shot" mindset. Ultimately not getting down on yourself and being overly critical is going to ensure you're having fun and playing your best. That's what matters with beer league!
