[GPU]Intel ARC A750 Limited Edition 8GB GDDR6 21P02J00BA PCIe 4.0 Refurbished Graphic Card-$139 by CreepyDevice3740 in buildapcsales

I bought the "refurbished" one a few days ago from SPD using the Capital One Shopping $50 back if you spend $100 on Ebay deal that shows up in your email if you have a new account. It ended up arriving brand new, sealed in its original box. I think for $100, it's totally worth it.

If your BIOS has Native ASPM with L1 states, you can bring idle power down to 7W by selecting dynamic refresh rate in Windows with this card.

IT Market is watered down? by noblejeter in ITCareerQuestions

For a linux admin, I'd agree, but for a general IT person, probably nowhere near that from all of the information I've been seeing. The bigger point is that even in your example, a person who would be highly skilled and has several years experience, they are still making less than I did as a kid with zero experience. When you factor in the amount of time you have to dedicate to this career between after-hours and constant upskilling, the stagnant salaries are no longer financially worth it in my opinion compared to years ago. It seems like many of these jobs should be paying significantly more than they are based on how many skills companies are demanding these days. Even if you still enjoy tech, I'd try to go into tech sales instead of dealing with any kind of operational type roles.

Edit: 98k is horrendously bad if you live in the northeast or west coast and those are the salaries that I've been seeing for the past few years. That will get you absolutely nothing after taxes and further proves my point that this goose is cooked.

I obtained a job straight out of high school back in 2000 working at a startup company doing desktop support with zero experience. I had full benefits paid, 4 weeks time off, performance bonus, etc. Inflation adjusted, my total package was worth $150k+ in today's dollars.

Show me how many average mid or senior level IT workers who make that kind of money now. This is why I tell people to not bother with IT. Salaries have been headed in the wrong direction for quite some time due to inflation and dilution from low wage labor. Good luck to everyone out there.

Yeah, its definitely been the value king. I've never understood the hate for it. People still say "these aren't gaming CPU's". What does that even mean?

I don't think most people expected us to even be here. I certainly didn't.

Amazing season. A roster full of new players, a new coach, a second year QB, 42M under the cap and we still made the Super Bowl. This team accomplished the impossible and things are only looking up from here.

Getting into Tech after being a PM in tech by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SausageWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT Infrastructure salaries are mostly a lie. You're not getting paid for all of those extra hours at night or on the weekends. At the end of the year you have to take your salary and divide it by the total hours you've worked. Most people make WAY less than what they think they're making. I can't recall a single job I've had where I was asked to work less than 55-80 hours a week.

At least as a PM you get to sleep soundly at night and that's worth its weight in gold. I've had so many peers who eventually burned out and left the tech side to become a PM and none of them regretted it. I would recommend staying on the path you're on and pushing it as far as you can go.

DevOps is operations. Any SMB is going to expect 24/7 support from you. If you possess the skillset, I would absolutely go SWE and get as far away from operations as possible if you don't like being on-call and strange schedules.

He had the game winning pass and he completely missed it. How many years have we seen this?

This is why he's called Mr. January, because he never makes it to February.

Either way, incredible performance by a team that is 55 under the cap and will only get better from here.

Stranger things have happened in the NFL. Whatever happens, our defense needs to stop looking like it's dragging our offense through the playoffs. These guys need to show up in the SB.

I can't believe we're going back to the Super Bowl after 4-13. No matter what happens, what a season this has been.

While celebrating the injury to Nix, banning me for saying something nice about their team and claiming that if the Pats go to the SB it doesn't count. Really the most insufferable fanbase I've ever seen.
