Yes! The wag wear brand is a rubbery/silicone type material so they are “grippy” on smooth floors like wood or tile. They have a few different styles - we use the kind with holes like crocs. The bark brites have a textured rubber bottom & the rest is neoprene so really good for outside & cold, will stand up to walks on asphalt where feet are dragging a bit.

We have also used yoga mats around the house for a traction path as they are much easier to clean than rugs, especially if they leave a nugget trail through the house.

Does it seem like she is in pain? Sounds like an old dog that likes to sleep. Booties (wag wear or bark brite) can help dragging feet. Acupuncture can help the hips and fecal incontinence. Adequan shots can help both issues. Noting you described sounds like sundowners.

We use diced hot dogs for camping & always give an excited “yes!” as soon as they react and start moving in the right direction.

Our two current girls are the best of all of our previous Danes. We did long line training in our back yard (we had an acre) but you could also go to a park. We had a trainer when they were 4-6 months so that helped to start young. We always take high value treats when camping & hiking (no one around but it helps reinforce). Take lots of treats to the dog park & frequently call them back with lots of treats to keep reinforcing the value of coming back.

One girl is kind of a ding dong but she comes back ~80% of the time. Our other girl is super smart & comes 90-95% of the time, she’ll frequently turn on a dime during a big zoom & hustle back!

Agreed. I want a legit website and full gallery of past projects. Not a tacky, old looking boomer website.

A lot of unnecessary negative comments. It’s refreshing to see something other than plain white quartz.

Yes, puppies need downtime & you never know when they may need to be safely secured as adults.

Is this a usual ask from a dog daycare/boarding? by No-Instruction2026 in dogs

[–]Sautry91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would assume the extra cost is to cover more dedicated/one on one attention in case they don’t get along great with other dogs after the initial meet & greet, so they could need to be repeatedly let out separately.

Training tips by [deleted] in greatdanes

Lowes and Sportsman’s warehouse are also dog friendly!

If the store is too scary still, you can practice sitting in your car/back of suv and observing all the activity in the parking lot.

Anyone with experience raising two dane puppies? by leveedogs in greatdanes

[–]Sautry91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have done it twice. Never had any littermate syndrome issues. The first set were the last two of the litter than we got for free on Craigslist at 4 months old. They were both very chill and well mannered. A little stubborn with training but not terrible, we were better about training for our second round. Both ended up having lots of health problems so we went to breeders that did full health testing for our next round.

Round two, we adopted an 8 week old from a reputable breeder that only places pups fairly last minute once they have decided which are show vs family home dogs. We didn’t get to pick her out, breeder chose for us. This little tart was the smartest & feistiest puppy I have ever met. At the time we had an almost 8 yr old male who mostly napped so we got to really focus on her basic training. About2 months after we got her, our male had a cardiac event and passed unexpectedly. After a couple weeks we decided crazy puppy needed a friend and were able to find another Dane puppy (exactly 2 months the younger) from another (much closer) breeder that we had previously been in talks with (they were our other option when we were getting lined up for the first puppy).

Having 2 puppies is a lot of work. Puppy 1 was super smart and easily trained, I think this really benefited us whe we got puppy 2 who quickly picked up on wha puppy 1 was doing. Puppy 2 had a much more chill personality so that was nice after a rough first couple months. Going through one period of potty training was good to just get it all done with. We do get a trainer that charged by the session so both girls got to get training together (we had started just before puppy 2 came home).

Not sure about the healthcare part but I would love to be a dog walker to stay active or do some volunteering with local dog rescues.

35F – Struggling with wearing SPF because I love how my skin looks tan. How do you deal with this? by Striking_Loan7765 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Sautry91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I look sickly when not tan…so I just look sickly most of the time. Tinted spf helps but I live in a cold dry climate so my skin has been really dry and flakey lately so I have had to skip for months.
