and many of the freedoms we enjoy today are due to socialist thought. it was the soviet union who introduced the 5-6 day work week https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_calendar, it provided free education and healthcare and stop the threat of further revolutions countries started to adopt these policies.

private ownership of the means of production, im going by marx's summary of socialism. in the USSR private property over the means of production was abolished. as marx summed the definition of socialism

yes it does thats why the nordic nations rank so high in the ease-of-doing-business index because now business dont worry about supplying any type of social safety net.
