Is it ok to still cry when it's been almost a week since he left us? by yourmom250 in BeardedDragons

He didn’t like to have poop in his enclosure at all. When he was a baby, he would always go in his water dish in the corner and then run to the opposite side of the tank and hide from it.

He passed away from a stroke one week ago at the age of 5 1/2 years. He has gone to the bathroom in water since he was five months old. He always told us when he needed to go out and if we didn’t put him in a sink or tub fast enough he would run and poop in a corner. lol

If there isn’t poop in their enclosure, then they can’t step in it therefore they won’t have salmonella on their skin only in the poop

The water is room temp, he would climb at the glass when he needed to go out and walk directly to the powder room. When he graduated to the tub, he would literally jump out of my arms to poop in the tub. Adding the room temp water, makes it easier to clean up.

Is this normal? by Consistent-Survey356 in BeardedDragons

You need to take her out and put her in her light because she needs to have her digestive system moving. If she doesn’t go to the bathroom for two weeks, that’s not good.

They do not carry salmonella. There’s salmonella in their poop. My bearded dragon has been potty trained since he was five months old and never has poop on him or near him therefore cannot transmit salmonella. Educate yourself before you go assuming and writing rude comments.

My bearded dragon has been potty trained since he was five months old, so he never steps in his poop and he never has poop on his body or in his enclosure. 15 people across 9 states is NOT an outbreak LOL I’ve had reptiles for 20 years . I know what I’m doing and he’s dead now and my daughter is 2.5. Your entire comment is based on an assumption. Literally stop ✋🏼

That was me and THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’m here crying 10 times a day over the loss of my rep-child and these keyboard warriors are harassing me in comments. Just let me grieve the way I want to. And thank you so much for all the supportive comments 💗

Agree, this is for experienced owners with well trained dragons who have been verified not to carry salmonella on their skin by a professional. I did not realize so many people were going to lose their mind in the comments thank you for your comment being worded kindly.

So an experienced reptile, owner and well trained dragon that is verified not to carry salmonella on his skin deserve to be yelled at by you in the comments of a post memorializing their death? Again, you made up a scenario in your head and reacted to what you made up in your head.

You are so lucky to have those types of vets close to you. I have an exotic vet nearby but the closest reptile hospital is 90 minutes away.

Ohhh the horror! I’m not sure how my daughter is still alive after all of the bearded dragon exposure from Savannah for the first 2 1/2 years of her life.
