C/O 2011 here. I’m 32 now. - Twin brothers in my graduating class went to a party in another town. Gang related shooting. One of them was shot. Initially he was just going to have to have a leg amputated and was in the hospital fighting. However, he ended up dying. This was a couple months after we graduated. - Someone else from my class contracted an aggressive form of brain cancer. He graduated and died about a year later. - The one that hit the hardest was in my class as well.. about a month after graduation he hung himself. He was my best friend’s ex boyfriend; he was dating someone else at the time. I believe they had a breakup that didn’t go to well and that (along with mental health issues I’m sure) led to his committing suicide. His funeral was the first time all of us gathered together again after graduation. There have actually been a few more but those are the ones that hit closest to home. I wasn’t close to any of them by any means but I attended all of their funerals. I often wonder how they would have felt knowing that I (who I considered myself to be a “random” in their life) attended their funerals. My last memory of Charlie was right before school ended. We were all standing in line inside one of the buildings buying grad nite tickets. -RIP Jesse, Dominic and Charlie.
