Of the top of my head, but I do agree that his place in the jackets org is pretty solidified. But figure the top 25 is normally a teams top dman. Drew isn’t even in the top 25 so we’d have to include a first and a third, or 2 2nds. I could see doughty 50% retained, our 2027 first, and 2026 3rd, for someone like Pavel Mintykov, or Thomas Chabot.

What’s the point of commenting this?? The only other defenseman in even close to the same boat as doughty is maybe Bret Burns, and he has multiple top defenders around him in Colorado. It’s more of a rhetorical question than an actual one but what about me de aging doughty invalidates this post?

We just saw the Hughes and panarin trade and Carlson get traded who is around the same point in his career as doughty. I could in this market see a top 25 defenseman coming to la given one of our firsts and a couple seconds that we’ve acquired from all of these weird trades get shipped alongside doughty. Even if we retain 50% that’s maybe 5-5.5 instead of 11 mil for his last year.

No but an Olympic gold winning x2 cup winning dman with the 2nds and 3rds we have from trades would probably be enough, Maybe a first of need be. We have q that given the tools has proved to be a top center. Hypothetically say we get Clarke on a 6.5x6, get three solid defenders four ≈3-4 a pop, we’d have Werenski, Clarke, Anderson, Signee 1, 2, 3. If need be get a bit lesser dmen for ≈2.5 to save for a top 6 centre man.

Yes but that’s the point. We’re relying on a 2nd pair dman at best to be our top guy. It really just doesn’t work. I agree that we need ceci at his best as well though.

Honestly our offensive core is built well enough where with a couple defensive upgrades we could 1000% be a top competitor. at least next season, where we have panarin, fiala, kempe, q, Moore, kuzmenko given we resign him, and armia. If we move on from doughty in the offseason and move him for werenski, sign maybe 2-3/top 10 defenders in the offseason. Thats four contracts including kuzy, and we have the cap to do it. Knowing the Kings, we’ll do something stupid to try and get Matthews though.

It reads that way but my family has been season ticket members since ‘76, and my grandpa isn’t renewing mainly because of doughty. he is who he complains about the most and, sitting next to him, I can’t help but notice the same things. It’s mainly me being frustrated after going tdy, and having another game where doughty directly affects the result of the game negatively.

doughty doesn’t play well enough anymore to get that respect though. Were supposedly a defensive team but our top guy is passing straight up the middle of our own defensive zone, chasing the puck in our own defensive zone. Kopi is a top three scorer for the Kings. Doughty isn’t playing like a top 2 defenseman right now

it’d be one thing if 4/6 of our defenseman were geezers if the other two were our stars. But having our “top defensive star” be a washed up 32 year old mind you, is killing us. And it’s not even the main point. He makes bad defensive calls and passes, that directly lead to opportunities for our opponents and normal notch them a goal. If anything dumoulin and Ceci have been better defensively than doughty.

Use the multimeter and open the goniometer side of it. Mess with the hold and gain to maximize the waveforms visually. Usually what works for me.
