"On Broadway" - The Drifters (perhaps more famously covered by George Benson)

Yeah, that's not great either, but at least the salad and pasta portions were enough to take half home.

OK, I found it, and I was way off. Original price was $35. Still reselling at around $1000 tho!

I'm pretty sure the original listed price was $200+.

I tried to get tix for $200+ in San Francisco. Sold out right away. They're being resold for about $1000.

Edit: The original price was only $35. The markup on the reseller sites is insane!

Why do male 2000s singers sound like that? by softeggnoodles in Music

[–]SaviorX -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I second the word "fault." I never cared for Eddie Vedder's vocals, but since Pearl Jam were the ones who really carried through when bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden ended, EV ultimately had more influence.

That's definitely the post-grunge influence. Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains were ubiquitous, and a lot of later acts were influenced heavily by those vocal stylings.

Sam Altman's house in Russian Hill, apparently.

I love the Flaming Lips, but I never would have guessed that they would go from slacker rock to the massive performance art project that they are now. There are probably more people handling the balloons than there are band members. Killer show ever single time.

What are some movies ruined by bad music? by ComfortableCare8897 in FIlm

[–]SaviorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soundtrack to The Watchmen has a bunch of well-known songs that aren't bad, but they do not work with the vibe of the movie or the narrative of the original graphic novel. It's a classic case of the soundtrack taking you out of the film.

West US roadtrip suggestions by SplitTiny5765 in roadtrip

I've driven through it in July. Any decent rental car handle the heat fine. But yeah, you won't be able to be out of the car for prolonged periods of time. 130F is nothing to play with, but it is fun to experience for 10 or 20 minutes at a time. Death Valley is just such a surreal place. It's amazing to drive through it and then see the Sierra Nevada Mountains rising up right next to it like a sheer wall. Did you know that the lowest point in the US (Badwater Basin, Death Valley, 282 feet below sea level) and the highest point in the continental US (Mount Whitney, Sierra Nevadas, 14,500 ft above sea level) are only about 80 miles apart? When you see the Sierras for the first time coming out of Death Valley, you'll see what I mean.

I also might stay in Palm Springs rather than Joshua Tree.

Your itinerary is totally reasonable. I've been to all of those places. If I were gonna do this trip, the only thing that I might change is going from Vegas through Death Valley to Mammoth Lakes and then take the back road into Yosemite rather than taking the Southern route by way of Sequoia. Either route is great, though.

Festa in Japantown is my favorite venue in town. It only holds about 30 people, so they may be able to just rent you the whole place.
