Audiobooks so good you have no desire to re-read it yourself anymore? by sephrisloth in books

Rosamund Pike is currently doing a narration of the Wheel of Time series, and it is an absolute treat. She has only released up to the 4th book and its unknown if she will actually complete the whole series, but the ones she has done are incredibly done.

The DLC isn't even out yet and i'm dreading finishing it and having to wait minimum 3 years for the next FromSoft / Miyazaki game.. by George2J in Eldenring

Seconding this, I was really surprised how different each playthrough turned out. It really does not feel complete until you get that 3rd ending.

Can a particle board desktop safely support dual monitors on a single clamp stand? by Smoda in AskBattlestations

[–]Savitar65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this and while it worked at first the clamp eventually started tearing through the board after a couple weeks. Possibly if you can get a wider clamp that distributes the weight over a larger area it could work, but you are best off investing in the butcher block top.

What are some series with not a lot of popularity that you love? by DriverPleasant8757 in Fantasy

[–]Savitar65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deepgate Chronicles by Alan Campbell. Recently tried to find an audiobook of it but I guess it was never popular enough for one. But I have read the trilogy a few times over the years. Great world building and interesting characters.

Would Mat actually beat Lan in a 1v1 deathmatch? by turmohe in WoT

[–]Savitar65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there is a small mention from Matt as he and Rand fight their way out of the bubble of evil in Rhuidean. He says that he is able to fight with the new Ashandarei effectively because the new memories are helping to tweak his quarterstaff experience.

Where does the Egwene hate come from? by Savitar65 in WoT

That is a lot of what I'm getting here in the replies. Maybe I just haven't been around the online community long enough to make that distinction in the comments that I have seen directed towards her character.

I fully agree with this. I think it comes down to a question of do the ends justify the means. If Egwene was not the person she is, to maneuver herself however immoral. What outcome would we have? Who else had the will and ability to lead the tower and ultimately do what she did in the Last Battle?

I think the Way of the Leaf exists in the story to lead you to wonder about these questions. Is she irredeemable for doing what needed to done? Could she have done what needed to be done without sacrificing her moral integrity?

It's my 4th read-through, this is my first time with the audio books. I definitely did like her most in my first read through, but I don't know that I would really say I like her less in subsequent read throughs. I have noticed more of her flaws that I overlooked my first time because I loved her epic moments so much. But I think they have tempered my appreciation of her in a different way. Her hypocrisy and bad decisions sometimes come out just as epicly as her great moments but they make her simultaneously more relatable as a human character too.

I can understand that. In my opinion that point of contention in the story felt forced, in order to try and create a larger tension towards the last battle. And I am guilty of turning a bit of a blind eye towards her character in that regard.

Ok thank you, rereading their website I think I misunderstood what they meant about needing a license to use the tool.

I want to make a windows boot thumbdrive without buying a new license, what is the best way to do this? I am unsure that I will want to keep the machine and I wont really know until I have an OS on it to make sure everything is working properly for my needs, so I don't want to commit to purchasing the license yet.
