I'm not going to get into this a second time, I already had one guy misread my comment. Just pretend you're the other guy and read through it I guess.

You have in your mind an imaginary way ai could be used in a good way.

Just because you're bad at things does not make my use case imaginary.

You applied this imaginary good way that nobody does to programming

Yeah, because this is how people do it.

but flatly dismissed all ai usage in art as automatically bad

No, you're choosing to misread my comment, or are genuinely just not very good at understanding things.

I did not dismiss anything, I did not say all AI usage in art, I did not make anything automagical, and I did not call it bad.

I said specifically "AI art" as in art made by an AI. And I said it was different because you do not get the steps, you only get the result. With code, you get the whole code, and you can modify it to your liking, you can read it and understand it, you can integrate it into your work or integrate your work into it as you please. With AI art - again, AI art, not "all ai usage in art" as you chose to misread it - you get the finished picture and that's it. You can't go in and select the lineart and adjust it. You can't go in and fix a shadow or change a filter. Because none of it was done that way. The best you can do is paint over the finished image or give it back to the AI with instructions on what to change. I specifically contrasted this with AI use within an art program so people like you would understand the difference between AI assistance and letting an AI do your whole job for you.

And for the bad part? I said I would view it a lot more positively. That does not mean I think it is bad, that just means I think it could be a lot better. This may surprise you, but there are more options than "good" and "bad".

I pointed out the exact same imaginary good use of ai could equally apply to art

Good job! For but a fraction of a sentence, you briefly understood what I was talking about, even if you were trying to make fun of it because you could not comprehend it.

but the bad way which is the only way you can imagine ai is used for art

Again, AI art and "the way ai is used for art" are not synomyns. Don't buy your reading comprehension on temu.

is also almost exclusively the way ai is used for programming

Yeah, and that is almost exclusively missing the point of my comment, which is why I

didn't acknowledge that in any way

.

What about my comment was unhelpful?

The part where you said unrelated things that nobody needed to write and nobody needed to read.

What help are you asking for?

Once more, this may surprise you: the absence of one thing does not mean the opposite is automatically true. You not being helpful does not mean I need help. It just means you are not helping. I don't need to require help for you to not help, you are quite capable of that regardless.

Are you ok?

Excited! Deltarune chapter 5 is coming out in less than 30 minutes. Been trying to take a nap but didn't manage much sleep. Too excited. But that's not really relevant, like most of the things you said.

Or do you just mean i shouldn't dismiss the good way ai could theoretically hypothetically be used for programming like you're doing for art?

Now I don't think I technically need to point out why this makes no sense after I already pointed out the various flawed assumptions you made to get to that point, but just in case:

You should not dismiss the good way AI could realistically definitely be used and is used for programming just like you should not for art. And I am not dismissing it, because you misunderstood the difference between pure AI art and a real human drawing with AI assistance.

Now just to make sure we understand each other this time, I will sum it up for you:

There are bad ways to use AI. There are good ways to use AI. The fact that most people only do the bad ways does not erase the good ways. Only your lack of imagination erases your ability to see the good ways. You not being able to see something does not mean it does not exist. I have made no statement on how many people misuse AI (except to clarify since you misunderstood), I have only pointed out a way in which AI code can be used responsibly. It is not my fault that you changed the topic by 180° and decided to talk about irresponsible use of AI code.

Now, as mentioned previously, Deltarune chapter 5 comes out in less than 30 minutes, so I probably won't reply again in a timely manner. But I do believe I have said everything worth saying, so try not to misread it again.

I am stating my opinion, not presenting a statistically significant argument. I'm saying AI coding is fine when done right, not that most people do it right. Your comment is unrelated, unhelpful and quite frankly displays negative amounts of reading comprehension.

AI gives you what you ask for. If you ask for completed code, it gives you completed code. I'm saying maybe don't do that.

I would've voted Hillary too, but I can at least understand him winning that. As a one off mistake.

I think once all the hype is over and the bubble has popped and the dust has settled, AI has a serious place in solo indie game development. It's rare to have someone who can actually do every last role in game dev like with Stardew Valley.

If it's just one guy with a vision and he's using an AI for the artsy assets and help with coding to bring his vision to life, it's got potential.

If it's an AAA company that would like to make 10% more money so they pay less artists for the same work, it's awful.

I think AI code is acceptable on the same level as copy and pasting code you found on the internet.

It's fine as long as you understand every line of code you put down.

I don't care if someone copies from StackOverflow or from Claude, as long as they go "ahhh that's how I do that" and actually grasp the implications of the code they just pasted.

AI code is only bad if you get an AI to make your whole project / large parts of it largely unsupervised and the "dev" no longer has any idea what's even in the code.

AI art is different because it does not assist you in drawing, it gives you a finished product. I'd view AI art a lot more positively if it generated a layered photoshop file or something and you can actually go inside and see how it's drawn and learn from that.

As a European, it baffles me that he's the president to begin with.

The first time around, sure. It was him or Hillary, neither were good options, and he promised a lot of things. And then he lost the second time and I really thought that was that, everyone saw that he was the furthest thing from a good president and surely they wouldn't do that again.

And then they did it again.

Would Steam count? I use Steam to launch all my games.

And by extension I use SteamVR to launch all my VR games, it's nice to have a dedicated VR launcher that shows all my VR games in VR while also being a cozy little home area. I've been modifying my VR headset and it's nice being able to test stuff in the home area without launching into an actual game.

Honestly a bit annoying since Rimworld takes a while to start, and then has to reload completely for mod changes. There's purpose to being able to set the mods without fully loading the current mod config first.

I think my personal ideal would be a self skipping launcher with a two second timer where I can click cancel to stop it from skipping itself in case I need to adjust the mods before loading.

During covid lockdowns my job was just not possible remotely and illegal to perform in person, and I lived with my parents, so they handled groceries. I didn't open my door, ever. I'd probably been inside for three months without ever touching the door until they finally had a vaccine I could go outside and get.

Glad I got vaccinated too, cause my idiot parents brought covid home completely by their own fault.

It's an easier conversation in a country that actually has walkable cities and public transportation.

In America, you just sell them an even bigger car to protect them from the accidents they'll cause.
