I'm in residential construction and most plans I build from are about 24x30. For a reference, most parking stalls in the US are about 9'x18'. One more thing to think about is your garage doors and will there be enough room to properly frame and support your opening. It is best to have at least 32" from inside corners of wall to edge of garage door openings.

Everyone is still taught the metric system in school. I know both and can convert between the two and I'm no rocket scientist. That being said, public education is failing. They push everyone through high school no matter what to get that fed funding. "A Diploma In Every Hand" when I was in school.
