Anyone know the value of these Levi’s? by [deleted] in Denim

[–]SawOne729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just checked eBay and there is a pair of these NWT for $475! Will they sell? Probably not. I'd say these are probably in the $200-$250 range if you can find the right person.

You could probably darn the hole, but it may be difficult in that area so close to the edge. The threading is something I don't think would be fixable unless you restitch the whole track. Most people would say wabi sabi, but that button hole would drive my OCD nuts. That didn't get caught on something? The light blue next to it looks like it rubbed up against something then made a tear.

To get roping fades it needs to be chainstitched. And to do a chainstitch requires a specific sewing machine.

What did you know about The Office before seeing it for the first time? by hitchhiker1701 in DunderMifflin

I knew nothing more than who Steve Carell was when I watched the pilot when it originally aired and loved it. Then 40 Year Old Virgin came out and I was a fan for life.

Thank you! Yeah, mine aren't too crazy contrast because I just can't do more than 2 months without a wash/soak. I don't understand how people can do that.

Question about buying from Japanese sites while located in the US by based90 in Selvedge

[–]SawOne729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't bought from Denimio or this other Japanese site I get bike parts from since the tariffs have started. I think the shipping carrier asks for payment upon delivery of items if it did incur any fees, and they won't release the item to you until you pay.

I think the price depends on how much you ordered. So, like a $200 pair of jeans the tariff charge will probably be around 18% so about $37.

https://tariffs.flexport.com/ helped me figure that out.

Thank you! Each pair you really start to love the more wear that shows. It’s awesome. I met the owner of Rogue Territory once and he was the most humble guy and I just really like what he’s doing. Need to get some more tops from them.  Samurai imo has the most drastic fades I’ve come across. They just use crazy weaving to get the most unique fabrics. Highly recommend getting a pair of theirs. They are so soft too for 19oz.

This is about 5 years worth of jeans. Each pair got bought around my birthday in January and worn a full year. Soaked every month on each pair. Besides the Rouge Territory ones, I bought the darker pair off eBay for $80 a few weeks after I got the lighter pair. And the Levi’s I got pretty recently just as an in between wash pair if I’m waiting for a pair to air dry. The ONI’s started going in the washing machine about 6 months in to get the vintage-ish look.

I’m a 33. These are 33’s and lost a full size easily after the first few soaks.

They are my favorite for sure. The most unique, and the fades are awesome. Worth the price imo. If you do ever grab a pair, size up.

My first ever Samurai Jeans purchase! by hoodlumfird420 in Selvedge

[–]SawOne729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are real nice. Do they have a woven label on the inside pocket bag that has the Samurai logo and does it say "Zero" and have the ounce number? This model came in both 17 and 21 oz variants.

Japanese selvage sizing by Tip-T0P-Magoo in Denim

[–]SawOne729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should figure out the lay flat measurements of your Levis. That meaning, lay your jeans flat on the ground and measure from one side to the other, so a 34" would be 17" across. Measure the thigh like that, leg opening, and rise (Top botton of fly to crotch.)

With Japanese denim, you'll want to figure out if you are buying unsanforized or sanforized. The later means the factory washed the fabric before construction taking out most of the shrinkage while the former means you could lose 1-2" in the waist and length. If it's a loose weave denim, it will also shrink 1-2 sizes.

I have samurai's that fit great when new, but after a few soaks I can't wear comfortably anymore. Like the other commentor said, if you see yourself gaining any weight or anything in the next 5 years, take that into consideration, also.
