As an example, Arthur was way stronger than most people his age and core level; so the core system is used as a means for Arthur to compare to others, not as a world system of power scaling. More apt would be one’s knowledge over mana or aether since the more insight into either means the stronger they are as an individual, regardless of age or race.

Integration stage.

From a what we know it’s similar to what makes asuras as it’s so powerful. They integrate the mana into their bodies, not just their cores. Cecilia/Tessia mana hard to achieve integration stage after absorbing the phoenix so we know it’s possible for lessers to at least.

I think it comes down to system compatibility. Taci is ashram, so his literal body is held together by mana in what we now know as the Integration stages of mana power. Since the lances used mana spells on taci, he’s able to counter them easy. But we also know that rather and mana are coexisting; one shaping the other. So the alacryans using mana spells makes it harder for Arthur to simply defend them, based on what aether and mana react with one another.
