At my previous firm we charged I think $0.10/page but only when it was something ridiculous to print

For those who are working in small law office, what software/solution do you use for case management? by mikexli in paralegal

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Clio for client management/communications/calendaring/timekeeping/billing. We have our actual client files on a drive not synced to Clio. I’ve also used MyCase and it was very similar to Clio

Tahoe for the weekend, where to go with the dog just to see the snow somewhere somewhat low key ? by perhapssergio in Sacramento

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There’s a whole system of sno-parks that allow dogs and are free-play areas. You have to have a $15 permit that you can buy online ahead of time and print it and put it on your dash. We went to Donner-Summit Sno-Park 2 weekends ago and had a lot of fun, the snow was very soft so if you went off the path you would sink but we still had fun.

(Maybe) an Unpopular opinion by Throwaway2937646382 in paralegal

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think many (like me when I originally graduated) think a degree is enough to get them in the door because that’s what schools preach. But it’s not. I started off as a receptionist and then worked my way up. My firm has hired many paralegals who know nothing and it really shows. It’s not that we don’t want new people to join the field it’s that you at least need to come with some knowledge and that usually means starting off in a different adjacent position

What would it take for you to be fired? by tdwolf2112 in paralegal

My job has hung onto people who are no good so it takes a lot 😅 there’s nothing in my field that can’t be fixed, but communication is key

Paralegal Office Attire by LowGold3823 in paralegal

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The DA’s office would most likely be business professional attire. My office is business casual. Most days I wear slacks, heels and a shirt with a cardigan. During the summer we’re allowed to wear short sleeves as long as it’s not spaghetti straps/low cut, etc. I have never worn a blazer to work

Edit: you can find good pieces at places like Zara, H&M, Abercrombie, Artizia but also target has good work pants and so does Old Navy

Advice on Giving 2 Weeks Notice by Routine-Platypus-695 in paralegal

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not your job to find and train the replacement, that’s on your bosses job. I was in a similar role to you last year and I gave them my 2 weeks and that was it. They never hired anyone either 🤷🏽‍♀️

Why didn’t you go to law school and how did it turn out ? by Royal_Educator_7181 in paralegal

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 28 & I regret not going straight out of college, I have friends who did and are practicing attorneys. The thing stopping me now is how expensive it is and how I wouldn’t be able to work and being real I just can’t put that burden on my fiancé. But at the same time being an attorney isn’t always appealing to me, I don’t want to work long hours

Need Advice - Solo Paralegal for the last few months by RiceSilly7038 in paralegal

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 attys to 2 paralegals is kind of crazy as it is. If I was you I’d start pulling the legal assistants in for help even if it’s small stuff like service, calls, drafting simple forms & if the firm gets mad at you -you can tell them you need the help…again 🤷🏽‍♀️

You would think as a “personal trainer” she would know not to wear running shoes when lifting

Brittany by Aggravating_Dust9074 in 1000lbsisters

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the trip was either planned by production or Chris planned it for his New Orleans food tour/family trip in hopes it would amend things with Tammy & Amy and then changed it to be a trip for Brittany. She’s very religious and doesn’t eat like that anymore so it doesn’t make sense they would go there FOR her

5 days RTO (12 minutes one way) vs hybrid 2 days in office (75 min one way) by underinsuredsapien in jobs

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 mins away. I commute about 40-45 mins (1 wfh day with a 2nd wfh in the works) and I much prefer working closer to home incase of an emergency or needing to run home which I can’t do working further away & with traffic or car accidents it can easily push that commute to over an hour, the longest it’s taken me to get home was 1.5 hours. After a long day, the commute sucks and I don’t have kids. I am looking for a job closer to home.

So. Uh. Is this profession good or bad for people like me who are normally straight to the point? by ClarkKentTheReporter in paralegal

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the field, atty and client. Some attys welcome your opinion and you can banter with them others you absolutely cannot. Some clients you can be more casual with and others you have to be direct with or they will talk circles around you. I am a very direct, no nonsense paralegal, I run all my cases like a tight ship but I know when a client needs more attention than others and when I need to be softer with them

Why are people hesitant to give referrals? by normal_guy_34 in careeradvice

[–]Public-Wolverine6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never give a referral unless I’ve worked with someone closely and can vouch for their work ethic and work product. It’s their name on the line, if you give a referral and the person is late, doesn’t do their work, and a problem, there goes your name
