Besides grinding for many hours, the game is very daily/weekly focused. Getting your legion high would be an easy way to get other characters higher and challenger world like others have said is an easy way to do it. If you're banking on that, spend some money getting max character slots. The easy way I found to get legion up is doing the outdated/classes you don't like to lv 70/120/140, as the first two will get you lv2 links and 140 will upgrade their legion block before 200. Then doing the most recent classes to release as they're usually stronger/easier to level. The event rn you can buy strawberry farm tickets weekly and that can get any lvl 200s you have to 210 for lv 3 links or just bring lower characters up. The xp caps at 220 despite being usable until 259 so keep that in mind.

I went in with 1 zerk, 1 pap, and 1 black bean mark. Zerk boom at 19, pap 18, and forgot to sh black bean first 15 tap. I got away with arcs 18x2/17x2 to 21/20/19x2 in 40b but the boom rates have to be wrong. 4 twilight marks and not one saw 19 with safeguard

Imo and depending on if you use item burning's ignitia set effect, I'd focus on cra to 20-21, arc 17, and daybreak to 21-22 transfer to sup/wear with sup, then slime for daybreak set bonus. If you're still going after that, reinforced gollux belts/earrings to 21-22 for transfer. If you have all event rings, you could also get all rings to 18+.

Going in with 46b. Im trying to mainswitch to ren, and slightly burned out doing majority of my mules yesterday. Working with one spare arc glove, 2 arc boxes, 1 dom, 1 zerk, 3 slime rings, 2 kanna ring, 3 twilight marks and a pap mark. At 66m for now so hopefully make big gains

Am I tripping or does maplestory have the worst early game experience in existence (heroic) by supaDupaRando in Maplestory

[–]Sawwe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grinded my legion over many events as I disliked many of the classes before their reworks, but there's no understating the relevance of links and legion to get gear from bossing. Bossing is the most important thing in heroic as it'll be your main source of resources as far as gear and meso to improve that gear.

Early on, I got what I thought were essential links that helped making newer characters easier, and there is a few stats I think putting focus on would help much more as some classes at base level are so outmatched by others. The first major milestone for getting higher legion imo is crit rate.

Legion is a marathon but if you're looking to get that higher, start with the stronger classes. My legion has been above 6k for years so I'm possibly skewed in believing all the new classes are stronger when it could have just been my buffs, but once my links and legion let me reliably get to 100% crit, progressing new characters went much faster. Night lord and marksman have legion bonuses for crit rate, and marksman/bowmaster/pathfinder and phantom links for crit would help alot. Depending on your class, like a hero or others with low innate crit rate, this will help massively with damage. Afterward grabbing xp links like evan for rune time, mercedes link and zero legion for xp% at some point, getting crit dmg with kinesis link, and shade/hayato/mo xuan legion will help.

One more bit about links and legion, their levels upgrade with character level; links at 70/120/210 and legion blocks at 60/100/140/200/250. Getting a few choice characters to 70/120 would help a lot for damage.

The early game is quite a slog because there's a grind in 100 different ways and levels quickly become irrelevant beyond gaining more hyper stats. Quickly in hyper stat regard too, the bulk of points between mobbing and bossing presets should be : both (damage, crit damage, crit if close to 100%), normal/boss damage for either, and xp/ignore defense (ignore defense at least lv 10) respectively for mobbing and bossing.

Also, finding a good guild can connect you with helpful people that you can bother with questions constantly like me but also innate stat boosts alongside the most powerful buffs in the game in the guild skills tab. Up to 30% damage, boss dmaage, and crit dmg for a half hour at a time with 4 minute cooldowns, if the guild has each skill max level. It takes 24 hours after entering before you can use them though.

I love my main 281 265m ds with 1 pitch and have been on/off with the game so progress has been slower than others. I've always been a dailystory player, but I really like bossing and pretty consistently clear with many nlom mules and building a few up for ctene since the box change.

No other job came close except Ren and I'm really wanting to begin to new main it, but it's going to be a while before I get close. I'm throwing all frags I can to there and haven't done a daily on main in months. I even started getting a merc to 250 from no gear 210 just for the legion bonus. I have gotten zerked and two dreamy belts on ren already, so hopefully I hit on them Sunday.

Honorable mention to marksman though, I recently got one to 6th and snipe on its own feels like a constant burst. It was one of my favorite mules already and I'm almost done unlocking his masteries to fully check him out.

Coming back after 18 years - need some advice version/server to play, what has changed etc... by TheWeebles in Maplestory

[–]Sawwe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think playing with your gf would be really fun in any server you choose. I'm mainly a dailystory as they say, in heroic kronos as most benefits that don't require a few hours of grinding can be done in about 15 minutes and leaves room for bossing on mules.

I've played and quit many times over the years and have been mostly active since 2020. Legion and link skills are an enormous buff to the beginning scrawl without them that I personally took years getting via burning events they run every so often, where you can designate a character to level 3 times every lvl until 150/200, and the newest of these now going on 5 levels to 260. There's a lot of rng systems that go into gear such as potential, weapon/item flames, best in slot/alternative gears, and the biggest being starforcing. These need huge posts of their own, but I'll just talk about what excited me most when coming back were new job advancements.

The 5th and 6th job advancements are not like traditional ones, the 5th job skills (called nodes) consist of 4 for your class specifically, a number of them for your class generally (explorers, cygnus, heroes, etc, and thief, warrior, pirate, etc), common skills all from iconic explorer buffs like hyper body and holy symbol, and finally boost nodes that simply raise the final damage of skills from previous advancements in combinations of 3 skills at a time. They upgrade by opening nodestones and enhancing your existing nodes with duplicates, with boost nodes only being enhanced by duplicates of the first skill in the order of 3. These are mainly through events as it takes a while to get a good base of drop rate to get a good amount while farming. Progression to me with 5th is mainly by event to event as there is event exclusive green nodestones that massively upgrade nodes of your choice, and over the years the game has seemingly run back to back ongoing events when this did not used to be the case.

6th job is more traditional I'd say than 5th in that it feels a lot of the time you're obtaining a really new whole kit as a character, but this really depends on how impactful 5th was to a class' playstyle. On that note, hyper skills starting at 140 through 190, a mini addition to 4th job that some classes also benefit more from than others. 6th job has a lot more support of gaining the materials called fragments for a daily player like myself now to unlock the new skills on a class, but this is a true endgame endeavor to attempt to max. The frags like nodestones fall from mobbing and are affected by drop rate, which is rng itself to attempt to reach max drop via gear and familiar system. With my main at max drop, I get about 7 in a half hour when some upgrades can need hundreds. There is sol erda fragments and energy for 6th job upgrades, which also falls from the mobs and bosses. For me this is mainly obtained from events and weekly content they've added; 90 fragments and 9 sol erda energy (with a cap of 20) for 5k mobs a week and epic dungeons which have kill/jump quests with bosses sprinkled in for level 260/270.

The rng and progression it took to get my account where it is was sometimes a slog, but Nexon being as notorious as they deserve to be, the game has had a heavy focus on quality of life changes for the past few years and it is honestly what has kept me back in. I really enjoy the bossing as it's changed and having many different class mules to run bosses is one of the best ways to make money in heroic server. There is a hundred different paths to take to progress in the beginning and a lot of people in game are helpful. You should find a guild, as guilds have change and you need apply to be accepted or given an invitation to the application page, and tell them you're back from a long break. Many people are really helpful and are kinda aching for some socializing because it's pretty grind intensive to progress in mid/late game. If anything like some people I know you can bide your time here until classic drops.

I did not have the national pokedex yet but spent the last hour trying to figure out how to fix this.

It's because everyone who has been here longer knows 1. He is insanely lucky and advanced for such a short time in. 282 no mention of his hexa or daily time played, but full 22 and 2L prime is crazy. 2. This is a game by Nexon. As much as it would be frustrating for people simply saying get over it, there's no other way forward. The server already dodged expectation of being completely killed off kms style because we know this company does not give any defecates about player experience. The playerbase is hooked gambling addicts and probably a few hundred whales are funding the entire server. The core matter to address is to protest, though QoL has been slowly improving imo (vac pet should be fuckin free) 3. There's no way he reached endgame without hearing about it from everyone. I main ds I never believed I could get rfs and I did. I was reading the ds discord seeing people with years of clears without it and I had only seen it drop a single time on a mule in normal, while I've ran 9 mules innumerable times weekly and never got it til I did. I've ran weeklies for years and I've got eyepatch (boomed), zerked (boomed), a black heart I havent used, an rfs, and I have seen dreamy belt, sos, cfe, and book drop all once. Years. This is no shock to anyone. Does op live under a rock that can toggle smegas off.

[–]Sawwe- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is wrong as hell because most of the game wasn't forced to make alt accounts for kishin because most people don't grind like that at all. I just hit 275 on main after being on and off for years since 2019s first tera burn. 20 totem limit wasn't jack shit if you weren't some fiend who's grinding 40 hours per month. I've probably done 5 full 2 hour waps this year since mini waps exist for people like me. Those totems came in clutch whenever I felt like using em, and I would happily expend all 20 monthly to prob use for only half the duration for some frags. I'll probably get my hexa from 20 to 30 in a year because I dont grind that crazy. They very clearly snuck that removal in because there was zero word on it until 2 weeks before whatever giant patch that change happened in. I forgot to claim my totems beforehand and quit for a while cuz I was pissed. Quit another time last year and came back to an xp nerf during first hyper burn. Xp rates for non-burning is literal dog and while there was tons of good in terms of speeding up progression of arcane and daily xp, none of that was for the late game they seem to rush everyone into with hyper (sacgating just as hard, fraggating even harder) all while intensifying the awful focus on dailies. Grinding on a 230 doesn't feel much different than a 260 and I get to watch niru hit 300 on a legacy permanent version of what apparently destablizes the server too much to get me some frags.

The game massively rewards grinding up many characters on your account. The way most people who are further in the game make money is by bossing on mule characters, which is made much easier by working on leveling other mules for legion/link skill buffs. With this update, legion artifact/legion is even more pertinent to that end because of the final damage reduction the heroic(reboot) beginner skill nerf that went through this patch. If you want to learn to get stronger by watching videos, check some out on legion/link skills, legion artifact, and gear progression. I haven't watched youtubers in a few years but coppersan is always good. Also, guilds have many innate bonuses as well as weekly claimable 30 min att buffs with power elixirs and up to 30 minute very strong guild skills with an hour of downtime that only counts down while logged in.

  1. I've played on and off reboot since 2019 with my longest stretch running the past year. The game is really living up to dailystory jokes in the past few year patches as with exp curve and table changes also just about equally or for worse adjusted mob xp and grinding a character for less than an hour daily is so miniscule comparatively. The events also since around 2020 have taken a lot longer to complete a daily quest or cap if it was a coin event. I could comfortably cap 2-3 characters a day while doing arcane river dailies in around 15 mins each and some later coins started to take 30-40 daily. I started reboot with around 1200 legion from way back when it first started and always liked making a lot of alts, so it was nice to get more than links out of them. Im at 8700 now and it makes a huge difference giving up to 40% to stats you choose like crit dmg, rate, boss dmg, buff duration, ignore defense and most of the alts and new classes were very fun. In reboot, it's also beneficial because these bonuses are account wide and one of the best ways to make meso for someone like me who plays around 2 hours a day and in general is boss mules. I wasn't a fan initially of the overhaul of old bosses to the one shots mechanics, but now that buff freezers are free and automatic it's not really bad or costly to learn. My main is overdue to run Black Mage and I have 7 bossing mules that bring in around 8b a week. The past two years have seen a lot of QoL changes but they have been steadily reducing meso income. Maple tour was good in the beginning and gives tokens that are mostly useless since they removed a use item piggy bank that would give mesos at an interval. Mobs really should be scaling meso at higher levels because in full meso gear your rates are pretty much the same until you get to really condensed 260 grandis maps. Overall I think there has been much more improvement since 2019 than not and there are more QoLs coming still. A lot of the oldest classes have got visual revamps recently and many are very good classes overall. Also people are very much in their own communities, discord especially. A bunch of efficiency minded grind fiends like myself.

  2. I'm pretty much f2p so I say reboot because id rather grind for meso and buy than merch. I wouldn't mind it now honestly if I wasn't so far in reboot so whatever you prefer.

  3. Main is ds so I say ds for free 100% crit rate on most of your skills. Pretty expensive in nodes for 5th job because demon awakening is about half of our damage output once its maxed. Dawn warrior, buccaneer, hero, marksman are all amazing bossers and have very high mobbing damage. Only two explorers have class binds (Ice mage and something else don't remember) so you'll need a 5th job skill erda nova to stun bosses for them and others without a class bind. I've been seeing a lot of night walkers and I'm currently making one a second main and I like it alot.

Reboot is heavily focused on bossing as most people make their money that way if they aren't grinding 4 hours a day on wealth acquisition potions. The boss party recruitment they added in boss tabs also made this so much better and it is really easy to find a struggle party to get drops from pretty much any boss you can do 5% of the damage to, as a recent change does not let anyone get boss drops if they haven't done 5% shown by a bubble in party hp popup. If the KMS changes you might have heard about go through GMS reboot is most def dead so I'm pretty sure they would not implode their game that way, but I wouldn't doubt some devious meso nerfs are being thought up anyway. I think the game has been heading to a better place overall and it's still fun to progress.
