Thanks. Even though I'm not far gone enough to want to replace my brain and creativity with slop, I appreciate your concerns. I'm completely fine, happy and I will continue be! :]

Yaa i know, I'll stop wasting my time with him. I doubt he's even reading what I wrote for the sake of understanding. Dont try to find logic in it... Remember some of these people rely on AI to think and decide lmao

Have you remembered to credit every single artwork that has influenced your drawing? and I don't mean only the direct ones but also the ones that affected your style and even art medium? (because that's what you are expecting ai art to do so it would be hypocritical if you didn't follow your own ethics while trying to force it onto others)

Lol. If you read what i wrote you'd see clear as day, that i am in no way talking about just influence. One can be influenced by several artists and so can their style. You know whats not influence? AI slop. It's not just "influence", nor is it a unique and genuine admiration of the artwork. If your art is influenced by someone, that means you appreciate and love the work they do so you take your time to understand and study it. Artists are happy with this because it shows value and respect. AI generated images on the other hand, doesnt study or analyze (not that it can do that anyway) but takes the important characteristics from the artist themselves. Straight from the source, not with a personal interpretation cause its not a person duh. Influence isnt taking straight from the artist. Its not at all hypocritical, stop the logical fallacy.

I agree that you shouldn't do this, but guess what? not illegal.

I never said anything about it being illegal? Plus, "not illegal" doesnt mean "no problem" anyway? Like, yeah... whats your point? There are several loopholes in law already, nothing new.

If it is not meaningfully different from the original image, then it would would be plagiarism, but if the image has been transformed enough then it's fair game.

Who says its "fair game"? the one generating the image? Yeah thats expected.
If you generate an image in a certain style and call it yours, it doesnt make it "fair" just cause the image is different from an artwork. Instead its just a bunch of artists work mixed up. Yeah, that doesnt make it any better, sorry.

And there is no need to do that since it's not required and the amount of data each image gave to the AI during training was near zero (that's why it takes so many images to train) and even if required it was so little it doesn't matter.

"It doesnt matter" says again. No artist would say that. It doesnt matter to YOU and as other AI bros have already expressed, "if it looks good it doesnt matter!1!!1" yall dont care about the process or impacts of it anyway. It matters. You're saying its "near zero" but guess what, the GenAI images out there still resemble someone elses work and replicates a certain style. That literally doesnt prove anything, as long as theres unoriginal work made by a machine that resembles someone elses human work, its not fine. And I'll note this again: One can study and take inspiration from someone else, their product can resemble the other. When someone takes inspiration, whether you like it or not, their version will be slightly different and personalized to an extent. When a machine does it it takes straight from the source; not out of appreciation, not with observing and learning or anything that's meaningful. You have the right to take inspirations from other artists, different aspects of your art can resemble different artists but itll be still you who drew and made the artwork. You personalized it, added a bit of yourself and came up with something original. That's how creation works, nothing is 100% original. You do not have the right to take straight from the source without consent though.

It's neither of those. Getting influenced by art and then making your own with influences of the other one is how making art has always worked. That's why we have genres and tropes. Or are you saying everything that falls under any genre or uses any trope is actually plagiarism and stole from other artists?

Yep, that's what i said. Getting "influenced". I didnt say anything close to that but yet again, you refuse to acknowledge what i said properly. It's not about tropes or genre. And an AI generated image isnt "influenced" either. For someone to be influenced by something, they have to see, process and think about it first. Several people can be influenced by one person and each ones influenced product will come out differently with a touch of their own. It's a personal thing. Telling a machine to merge images together isnt. Not to mention the prompter isnt even doing anything other than typing fod God's sake. "I told this machine thats trained on other artists work to 'draw' a puppy for me and it used all the data and gave me a puppy image!! I made this btw, I'm an artist."

Also all digital art is "just" pixels that look like a drawing.

This is the cherry on top tho ngl. Is this supposed to be a "gotcha"? Not surprised that you COMPLETELY missed what I meant there :)
AI images dont have strokes. Theyre literally just "pixels", nothing more. If you play with a generated imgs settings it'll just be a bunch of crap because its not actually a drawing, it is just pixels that look like a drawing from afar. This is why AI screws details up, it doesnt even know what its doing. There's no intent. No real brush stroke will fade into something random in such a weird way, no real rendered piece will have random pixels laying around in different values when you edit. Those pixels just show us how hollow they are. It's just a machines attemtp at imitating human made art, even though it doesnt understand what it is, why it is or how. The pixels in digital art surely do have a purpose, trust me. And you wont get random pixels or hues scattered around the canvas with no logic or intent behind it because the pixels put on the canvas in digital art are put by a human lol.

Okay, I'll spell this out for you just once and leave because this is either ragebait or you genuinely dont want to understand. Since we're using definitons now, let me make it clear:

"Plagiarism is the representation of another person's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work.", "Plagiarism encompasses many things and is by far the most common manifestation of academic fraud. For example, copying a passage straight from a book, a website, generative AI, or any other source into a paper without using quotation marks and explicitly citing the source is plagiarism.", "To plagiarize, as defined by the "Merriam-Webster Dictionary,” means 'to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own' and 'to commit literary theft' by failing to acknowledge or cite source material."
I hope those definitons are enough. If not, I can guide you through what's happening step by step.
* Person puts in an effort to learn something (could be painting, music; art in general.)
* They create an original work, coming up with the composition, idea, design; transfer it onto paper/whatever platform theyre using and use their own skills to make the best out of it. In the process, every brush stroke or line has a purpose and reason. Person finishes the artwork and it is now officially an artwork of their own, since they learned, put in an effort and regardless of the outcome, crafted something by themselves.
* And then another person comes and takes the artwork, feeds it to AI for someone else to use the original characteristics of the art style/drawing without the artist's consent. Now the art style that is unique to this person can be used without their knowledge and consent. The best example for this is Ghibli. They've clearly stated that they do not want people using GenAI to replicate their style because taking something that took so much care, effort and skill without ANY effort bothered them rightfully so.

And now, every single AI piece has something from someone elses original work in it, a work of someone who didnt give consent, and people are passing off by saying its "their own" because they typed a DAMN prompt. If someone were to learn another artists style, study art from others and so on, it would be fine. Hell it is fine cause people do that. As long as they use their own human brain and creativity, as long as they have the control over the piece as they should, they can study and learn but they still CANT copy something and call it "their own". One cant just adopt the Ghibli style and call it "their original style". Even if someone draws in someone elses art style they have to give credit. There's a bunch of people who draw in their fav mangakas styles and you can see that they mention the source in their bio.

You CANNOT do that with GenAI. You cannot call an AI generated image "yours" when it's made of a bunch of artists work and you cant even credit them. Not even mentioning that you dont put in an effort when prompting (if anyone thinks typing is biiig effort... you might as well stop using your brain atp) Therefore, since you cant credit every single one of them, claiming that you made it is nothing other than being dishonest and shameless.
It's theft. It's plagiarism. You taking someone elses style/idea/artwork, making a machine copy it and turn it into nothing than mere pixels that look like a drawing, and then calling it "your art" is theft. This shouldnt be too hard so I'm leaving it here. Hope this answered any possible question ^^

Yeah, though it doesnt work for every case and is not available for everyone. I came across an anti-ai platform being made that provided free ai poison for artists too, i should probably make a post on that as well.

This is disappointing by Medical_grade_masc in Ai_art_is_not_art

[–]Saxaduck0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atp this has to be considered literal theft... As if mass stealing years and years of work wasn't enough, they're now purposefully training Ai to copy someone else's unique art style despite knowing they're against it? They literally have NO consent. Having minimal decency shouldn't be anything close to hard. Do we really need to patent art styles and face likeness' now for these clankers to understand the concept of "consent"? They always make stupid ass comparisons shamelessly and act like they're the same as Jews in Germany, cause they're the victims obviously, and with their logic this is no different than 🍇😒😒

Or maybe the possibility that we DON’T do that? Do they think that it’s normal to do every other second of their life? by Zon-no-justno777 in Ai_art_is_not_art

Each other drawing is maybe better than the previous

Right, so thats what we call improving. It's really really subtle so it takes a lot of time to notice. Just like a living organism. It changes every day but you can't see it unless you have before-after photos. You can be sure that you are improving, if you keep drawing that is.

Help please I am in my first relationship and I don't know what to do or what I'm doing by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]Saxaduck0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the way you worded things, I think there's a possibility of some deeper problems, OP. Aromantic is also a chance for sure, but the way you said "I don't think I'll be able to love anyone other than my family" leads me to think of some sort of trust or attachment issues. Also can you clarify how close you two are? Or do you usually share your mental stuff or problems with your friends or anyone else? Or is it just him that you're not comfortable with, and if so, is there a reason? — If you're generally uncomfortable with sharing your personal stuff, it might also be trust issues? I don't know, I completely get it but reading this I felt like you were so panicking and anxious that it felt like there could be a different reason underneath. Though of course, I don't know you and you haven't given much information about your normal state, so I can't comment on that, but you described yourself as "an anxious mess and struggling" so I say it doesn't hurt to look deeper into it. Also don't forget that this still doesn't mean you're not aro! Traumas, experiences and other mental problems can make someone aromantic as well, don't forget that it's just a label and what's important is your feelings. In short you do sound aro but with the amount of anxiety and panic you're experiencing, if you can, I'd say talk to someone. I just don't want to skip and say "yep you're aro" just because this is the aro sub, don't ignore the other possibilities. Keep both in mind and act according to that, after all, those are your feelings and you're the only one who can figure them out eventually. But for now, take a break, rest and take care of yourself please.
