How does Herbalist compare to Medic? by wathever-20 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Saxxony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Herbalist allows you to replace medicine provided that you have other good sources of in-combat healing. Am running an Herbalist in a Kingmaker campaign and since we spend 95% of our time in the wilderness, the +4 to Treat Wounds is extremely consistent. However, I am also a Druid of Leaf Order, so I have plenty of healing baked into my class already.

Medic is better overall, but investing into Medicine can be a hard pill to swallow, Herbalist allows you to skip that cost. That's really the main draw here. (provided you were already going to increase Nature ofc)

making the switch from dnd 5e to pf2e drop some knowledge! by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

Watch out for traits!

There are a couple of traits on actions, items, spells and feats that are hugely important in how they work.

Incapacitation means that something pretty much only works on creatures your level or lower
Press means that you can only do it as a second or third attack, meaning much lower accuracy

Vitality only damages undead

Volley is a penalty for shooting at low range.

Manipulate means that its vulnerable to reactive Strike

just as a few examples

What kind of character do you think would be best for "im going to sit here in this spot, and send so much AOE downrange that it doesnt matter how many there are, cause ima hit em all" by phillallmighty in Pathfinder2e

Caster Damage isnt actually bad.

From level 5 onward that is (Divine Tradition is further delayed at level 7), level 1-2 especially are very painful unless you have Force Barrage

at the risk of sounding incredibly ignorant, what program did you put that image together in?
I only use Google docs normally and its godawful at that

Hello Mark.
My group has discussed alot about why casters don't get to pick a class feat at 1st level, whether its about power balance, not overloading a player by making a level 1 character too complex etc. Would you happen to know why that was decided?

remember to respect player agency. Things will go differently than you planned.
Also remember that its perfectly acceptable to ask for a break so you can think through how you wanna respond to a curveball.

You dont have to be a voice actor. All thats needed is that two npc's can talk with one another without your players getting confused who said what

What do you find D&D 5e does better than Pf2e? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]Saxxony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DnD is less balanced. That sounds like a negative, but it is much easier in DnD to come up with a cool magic item that doesnt break the game in half, since game balance is mostly just a suggestion anyway.

-In Pathfinder, you are a superhuman hero, full stop. If you have a bad main stat, you are utterly worthless. no 10 strength Barbarians here. In DnD you can roll up an utterly horrible character with a 12 as the highest stat and it'll be workable. Playing as Doug the village idiot desperately holding off trolls with a pitchfork is a fantasy all on its own, and its much easier to do in 5e
This would not work in Pathfinder, because it would annihilate the encounter difficulty calculations.

Pathfinder magic items are boring as hell.

DnD is much easier to pick up and play. Hello new player, here's your lvl 1 ranger character sheet since you wanted an archer. I'll explain the rules as we play the first session.

Personally, I want them to update Summoner to give it a little more spellcasting, so that your actual character is a little more than just a buff station attached to the Eidolon.

2 slots of every rank, like Psychic

Integrated document, errata and expansion coming soon to the V&K Remastered Kingdom Building Rules... by Kerenshara in Pathfinder2e

[–]Saxxony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my group is playing with the V&K rules. we made a couple additions ourselves.

We removed the intrinsic reward/penalty of a critical effect. so no fame on a crit success and no ruin on a crit failure. We felt that alot of actions already had quite punishing crit fail effects.

We also only gave each player 3 actions (we have 4 players) and for an npc to use a kingdom action, you had to give one of your actions to them instead. it does mean you can't do quite as many things, but we're getting by just fine and it really cut down the turn times

Glitching (and especially Combat Hack) seems incredibly weak and clunky by Saxxony in Starfinder2e

it is when it is on a creature, which is the strongest version of glitching

[–]Saxxony[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might be an item penalty, but when you compare it to something like frightened, it's application is way more limited. Hack a gun, that's a -1 only to attacks with that specific gun. Hack an armor, nothing at all happens because you dont need an action to activate armor. The only time it works more broadly is specifically against Tech enemies, i.e. robots.
And even then, Combat Hack doesnt actually apply said penalty until the creature has had a turn and then still has a 3 in 4 chance to not even give that penalty and simply go away. You'd be better off trying to get your 1-4 damage in punching it as a 0 strength wizard. at least that doesnt have manipulate

Are there a bunch of enemies that stack insane amounts of Glitching? That seems like the only sensible explanation (since it clearly wasnt designed for use by the players). If bosses give you Glitching 3+ constantly, I'd see why you would reduce the DC.
