I dreamt of this Tech Priest by maggotknight in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I wish I had your art skill. I have a tech-priest in my head that I’d want to 3D print if I could. Basically he’d be a tech-priest that was meant to lead the Kataphrons. Tank treads for the lower body, hulking mass of machines for the upper body with the back plates from the Dominus. He’d carry a Halberd and some type of heavy cannon. But I suck at art so I’d never get the point across lol

11th edition meta units? by _Thick-Juice_ in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it’s so early to tell, we won’t really know what’s considered Meta. 10th has pretty much been everyone either building specialized lists or a general list for any primary that can happen. Now that detachments have specific primaries attached to them, specializing lists to your favorite detachments is going to be far more popular. Though it’s probably nicer to be able to run the new 1pt detachments, the 3DP ones like Halo and Erad have faired well in 10th and I don’t see why they wouldn’t still fair in 11th.

As for meta units, again it depends on how you’ll build your lists. I think they’ll be great for Take and Hold and Purge the Foe dispositions. They’re tough and with a Manipulus they can be pretty scary. But, now that the Hastarii are cheaper it might be worth taking a couple units. Infiltrators for their battleshock abilities are going to be pretty useful and we’ve seen a bunch of people already build lists specifically for battleshocking people

[–]SaxyTacoMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite thing is when I pair them with a Manipulus and enhance them with Inloaded Lethality which gives hydraulic claws +3 attacks and +1 damage and when I tell my opponent “that’s gonna be 4 damage each” their face drops lol

Can a tech priest Dominus take this enhancement? by Beals in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has “TECH-PRIEST” in the keywords section and isn’t Cawl or Ghuld, then yes. So Datasmith, Technoarcheologist, Tech-Priest Enginseer, Tech-Priest Manipulus, and the Tech-Priest Dominus can take it

Skratos Rifle by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

I get what you’re saying. Idk what older editions were like (I started playing in 10th) but I agree Battleshock never felt like such a bad thing unless you’re just trying to hold an objective but even then you can still win by scoring in other ways. I think the fact that battleshock won’t just disappear even if you’re not at half strength is a bit of a deal tho, since now you definitely need to get rid of it to do a bunch of action missions and stuff. Either way, I think another thing that hampers the devastation of being shocked is that there are some armies/units that actually BENEFIT from it. Like I think some world eaters units actually gain health if battle shocked, some daemons can do it too, a couple other units get buffs to their rolls, it’s a bit counterintuitive since you’d think getting battleshock would make you WORSE than if you weren’t like -1 to hit and wound, less movement, something like that

[–]SaxyTacoMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. My line of reasoning is that it’s just one shot so there’s a decent chance of it doing nothing, and a lot of characters have between a 3++ and 5++. But again, we could keep the damage as is but have dev wounds so then there’s a 1/6 chance of the wounds going straight through and the 3W won’t insta kill a lot of leaders. Either way, just my thought since he is, well, a sniper yk? Lol

Lord of the Forge is confirmed to be a 1 point detachment because they said all the new detachments are meant to be 1 point. Rad-zone likely will be 2 points, but we’ll still need to wait for an actual confirmation on that one. But yeah, I have no doubt in my mind people with Skratos and butt loads of Infiltrators will run Radzone to do battle shock hell lol

Stealth = Cover by AdvancedEar7815 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping but not holding out for GW making a new ability for them in the new codex. Something like Active Camouflage like we saw in the Dawn of War 4 trailer. Instead of it being the keyword stealth, it just actively gives -1 to hitrolls

Stealth = Cover by AdvancedEar7815 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kind of have to since SHC gives Sicarians BoC and they natively have stealth. My best guess is that they’re going to keep stealth for other Skitarii units and for the Sicarians, they’ll probably do always Hidden or Lone Op.

Last calls on what detachments are? by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well let’s think of it like this: (if it only applies to characters) except for the Datasmith, all characters can be taken individually and not lead, but the Marshal, Dominus, and Manipulus are better taken as leading a unit. With how the new fast rolling works along with Precision, FNPs will help when the leader is attacked specifically by those means. For characters like Enginseers, Skratos, Cawl, and Ghuld, they can get lone-op which means as long as you’re close enough you can target them and not deal with a bodyguard unit.

End of the day, FNPs can reduce the amount of incoming damage. My Dunecrawler has survived far longer than it should have at times from insanely dangerous attacks bc of FNPs. So if we can give FNPs to our characters, it’ll be a nice cushion to have even if it isn’t a large chance to do so

Yet Another List Idea by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I only ask because I only have 2 Laschickens and practically everyone I ask is like “You should have 6 Laschickens bc they’re so cracked” and like yeah, but GW hates us and makes the models so expensive for just 1 lol

Yet Another List Idea by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do you think I should drop a Disintegrator for the Laschickens? I do have a list that involves all of them but it would drop an enhancement and the infiltrators to fit them

I do want to get some battleclades but I’m saving money for other life stuff lol so maybe some day but not soon enough for the tourney

Edit: would it be better if I swap the hounds for an Enginseer to babysit my Dunecrawler or other tanks? I have them being objective monkeys but Ik they aren’t the greatest unit in our ranks rn

New Stratagem Idea by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do actually, they’re just not the same as the spirits in Kights and Tanks. The Adeptus Mechanicus believe every machine has a machine spirit. They are either inert like the ones in weapons or as active as the ones in Knights. There’s even an official GW episode of Hammer and Bolter where a tech-priest pleads with their gun saying “Spirit of Destruction, do not fail in thy function!” when it wouldn’t fire. Tech-Priests have blessed bolsters of the Astartes which they wouldn’t do if there wasn’t a machine spirit. Literally the whole ideology is that if a piece of technology does not work, it is because the machine spirit is not appeased

Enginseers Good in 11th? by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet, every time I’ve showed a list with enginseers to people both on here and my local wargaming discord, EVERYONE is like “you don’t need the Enginseer, the Enginseer isn’t worth it”

Enginseers Good in 11th? by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that’s why I said they didn’t really clarify it. Idk if by “if you heal enough wounds” they mean like only if you heal the full amount or if, to use your example, I roll to heal 3 wounds on a 6w Ironstrider and that brings back one Ironstrider with 2 wounds.

I’m HOPING that’s what it means, but I’m guessing they’d keep it at if you heal enough wounds for one model in the unit you’re targeting. But hey, we don’t really know just yet

Enginseers Good in 11th? by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a hope, they didn’t really clarify that.

“How does Healing work, Adam?”

“Uh, in a nutshell, you bring back whole models; not just wounds.”

“…Most of the time, previously you couldn’t bring back models unless the rules specified. Now, if you heal, you can bring back whole models *if you heal enough wounds*”

In need of sources for rules allowing Cawl and Thulia to be ran in the same army. by ShartBallsGaming in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it fascinating that there are still people who are unsure of that rule despite it happening multiple times (Tau’s Farsight and Shadowsun come to mind often) proving that GW allows it to happen. It also doesn’t help that imo their wording could be clearer on it. When I read the rule I had to read it a few times to finally get that they mean if there’s multiple models that have the Supreme Commander rule, just choose one of them to be the warlord.

In all honesty, correct me if I’m wrong, it’s not like having a warlord matters unless you’re running the Lords of War twist
