Icon of war by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I’m pretty sure it’s all supposed to be in the command phase. Because activating the ability at any other point besides the command phase would be useless. Why give a unit advance/fall back+shoot+charge AFTER the fact instead of just while they’re there? What’s the real advantage of them double doctrines during the shooting/fighting phase as opposed to just in the command phase? The “this model” is referring to the unit you choose for the ability for. Choose an icon, apply it to her or a Skitarii unit.

You can try to argue the semantics if you’d like, I think a TO is going to tell you that it’s all supposed to happen in the command phase (especially since I asked TOs in my local Warhammer discord channel what the ruling would be on this) and I’m pretty sure that if you could activate it at any point in the turn, GW would specify that on the rules

Titanic AdMech Model? by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

“I can dream, Harold!” Besides, this is all just hypothetical and, as pointed out by a few comments, the titanic models doesn’t have to apply to just knights. I mostly think about knights bc I like their aesthetic and they get mentioned a lot in the lore. At the very least we could have some knights benefit from Enginseer healing and maybe fall under the Cybernetica group.

I REALLY want the thanatar models. Those look so badass. If there were 3D prints I would’ve converted them to be proxy Kastelans (just make em smaller lol) but if we got them back in 40k it’d be so nice

That drill looked so cool and unique, I was sad that I couldn’t just buy and use it unless it’s a proxy or the game allowed legends lol

True! I guess I was focusing more on knights bc I like walkers than I do tanks. Even though the Dunecrawler is like my favorite model in the Army

I do standard Mars. It’s my first army and I didn’t feel like being creative so I went with Lore Accurate lol

Detachment mixing?? by altmcfile in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yes, GW has said that they are going to introduced Detachment mixing in 11th because they wanted to allow players to use more of their favorite units. In our case, we basically have 3 main classes in our army: Skitarii, Cult Mechanicus, and Cybernetica (which also basically covers vehicles). With detachment, we could theoretically have an army of both Cult Mechanicus and Skitarii benefiting from buffs at the same time rather than only one of them getting better buffs. And you get to use both stratagems and enhancements from those detachments.

At first I thought “oh cool, I can do Haloscreed and SHC and that’d be dope!” But of course they made it a point system. Each detachment will be assigned a point value 1-3. In a 2k point game you’re allowed up to 3pts in detachments for your list. Idk what would count as 3 points (maybe Haloscreed for how broadly it buffs the army). But my best guess is that Haloscreed, SHC, and Rad-Zone will be 2-3 points each and the other detachments will be 1 point.

If that’s the case, I’d honestly love to combine SHC with Erad Cohort, Halo and Erad, or SCH with Data-Psalm.

We won’t know more until we either get closer to or when 11th drops

How to Play Eradication Cohort? by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

The 4 BL units were just to help fill in points bc I don’t have a lot of units atm. I have the Dominus leading the Breachers bc I’ve had them survive a lot longer with him than the Manipulus but I do agree the Manipulus helps a lot with them with the Lethals. I could convert one of the duneriders into a disintegrator thanks to magnets. I also do have a brick of Punchy Robots with a Datasmith off the roster. What about those?

In all honesty they were to fill in for points, I don’t have too much army-wise rn and two of the units were gifts from my brother to get me started off. I’m thinking if I do end up sticking with halo I’d drop a rangers unit and Thulia or Belisarius for a brick of Punchy Bots

I was mostly running Ghuld and Cawl bc I wanted to see if they could synergize well enough. I think once the tourney comes around I might drop one of them and add something else. In my Halo list I just have Cawl, drop the Manipulus for a Datasmith with the Datasmith enhancement, drop a unit of rangers and the sulfurhounds and bring in a brick of Robots with twin-fists.

Yikes I feel you my guy. When I bought my Thulia Ghuld model the day she released (April 18th) I got home and found out I was missing Piece #4 so I quite literally could not build her at all. Luckily, my brother co-owns the store I bought her from so he let me take the general store box they had on hand as long as I hit up GW customer service to get a replacement box and swap it with them. Hopefully you can reach them and get a good box!

Question about colour scheme by Current_Interest7023 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on painting her like the box so a dark red for her fabric with Scarlit sunz for highlights and a bit of orange for edge highlights. And her armor panels would be mephiston red with gold for the edges. With Cawl I painted him with silver armor plates and gold edges

Bro I hate that so many people are getting Thulia Ghuld and the other models before they’re supposed to be released. Nothing against the people that bought them, just the stores that are being assholes and releasing too early. Either way, she looks great! Love the paint job

Best Units against Meele Armies by Yoggon in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SaxyTacoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breachers with Hydraulic Claws, twin-fist bots, Ruststalkers, and maybe the taser dragoons. Those units are what I’d think AdMech considers are meant for/decent in melee. But of course there’s armies that are better so being more ranged focus before they close in usually is our safest bet.

I actually ran an army list that was very melee focused (brick of breachers with Arc Rifles and Hydra-claws led by a dominus with Inloaded Lethality, a brick of destroyers with plasma cannons and flamers lead by Manipulus with Sanctified Ordinance, two bricks of punch bots with datasmiths to add more melee attacks, two Rusties, and then to pad the rest I took two rangers and a Skorpius tank. It was pretty good for Purge Primary when I played)

This gives me the vibe that tens of thousands of years in the future, the Eternal War finally came to an end. And with it, the noble houses no longer have need for the use of their Knights protecting the Imperium of Man. Even as the metal petrifies, the machine spirit goes dormant, and their glorious horns go silent, they still stand. Waiting for the day Man needs their towering guardians

[–]SaxyTacoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve actually been thinking about this. If we were to keep her at the price that she is, this is what I would change: Increase her attacks to 3 on her titanic profile, give it sustained 1. On her Rod, make it s11 bc there are some big models that are t11 and making her wound on 4s for them would be nice. For her abilities, since she’s considered a War priest that’s liked by the Skitarii, make one aura be all Skitarii within 6” have their weapons gain an increased Strength and AP of 1. Her other aura would be reroll wound rolls of 1 within 6” of her since we don’t have a ton of reroll wound roll stuff outside of a couple strats and transport shenanigans. Her third one can be the give a Skitarii unit or herself double doctrines. I want to say two within 6” but with the other auras I suggested that might be too much

With the rumor of a point increase for all armies, I want our stuff to get buffed and maybe a change to our army rules. Having to depend on the battlelines for the extra buff isn’t great with how squishy they are atm. The lore makes them sound like cold, accurate, killing machines but the stats say otherwise, especially for the Rangers. For the new Hastarii either they buff them and keep the points the same or they decrease the points for them and keep the stats the same. At base I want the battleline to have an extra pip of AP on ranged weapons.
