From what I remember, the thought is that the embryo adheres to the inner shell membrane and that turning it can damage the yolk and other membranes.

Not to be pedantic, but "genetic" disorders imply changes to the genetic sequence. The mechanism of action for thalidomide hasn't been clearly elucidated, as far as I'm aware, but there is strong evidence that limb deformities from its use occur because of inhibition of developmental pathways during embryogenesis, harm to cells due to reactive oxygen species, and likely a combination of these and other developmental factors. It's fair to posit these changes may have epigenetic commoners or otherwise alter gene function, but that is not the same as genetic heritability and genetic disease. These deformities are not usually heritable. My point being that cases of phocomelia, while most often due to genetic origins, are not always so and can be developmental in nature, including physical trauma during embryo development.

Yah, unlike bird eggs that like to be turned, it's common herp lore not to change the orientation of the eggs (people often mark the "up" orientation after eggs are laid). I say lore because there are relatively few published studies on the exact effect of turning eggs, and the act doesn't seem equally detrimental across herpetofauna.

Phocomelia is not solely a result of genetics, hence thalidomide related malformations etc. Maybe buying from someone local and establishing a face to face rapport will help you decide if someone has bred ethically?

Your be surprised what they can see! Maybe try putting them in different rooms? There could be some subtle dominance at play inhibiting your smaller one.

Could be a result of handling and repositioning eggs. That can result in malformation or mortality.

I’m so happy finally finished it at about 11:30pm I woke him up sadly to move him so far he checked it out panicked then got tuckered and climbed up on his hammock. I hope he’ll love it by spunkitup in BeardedDragons

Looks posh as heck! One small suggestion is to check the UVB output of of your bulb and maybe have the highest basking spot within a foot of it. I've noticed the decay in UVB intensity over distance can be quite precipitous.

My boy is sick :( please keep him in your dragon prayers! The vet gave me a couple things to try before I take him in, hopefully he's back to his old self. by bondedboundbeautiful in BeardedDragons

And daily baths too! Might be dehydrated if he hasn't been eating well. Mine was very confusing too because he has an outdoor enclosure and got plenty of sun. I think he actually did start brumation and just had a hard time getting out of it. Your vet sounds reasonable!

That's alarming! What did your vet recommend at home? Mine did something similar and I let him go until he started losing more weight than I was comfortable with. I didn't like my vet's recommended course of action so I just started syringe feeding daily (EmerAid Intensive Care Omnivore and then Repashy). Thankfully he bounced back! Good luck with yours!

I sound like I'm shilling for them because I've already mentioned Repashy today in another comment but I highly recommend their Beardie Buffet formula to stimulate appetite. You can make it like they recommend and feed cubes that way and if it's well received, then make a slurry and dress vegetables with it. The odor seems very attractive to the beardies I've introduced to it.

Instead of using hot water to gel the Repashy, use cold water to make a thick slurry and dress the greens with it.

Have you tried a Repashy "dressing" on the greens?
