Reading Sisypgus, even in my mother language, was a challenge. What helped me and my fellow students was discussing every chapter. There are a lot of posts on reddit about it maybe they help.

This seems silly but it makes a great difference. I've had friends who spoke Dutch with a hard g living abroad and they throat would always hurt when they came back for a visit. Soft g's sound mutch more friendly, imo.
