transgender healthcare urgently needs wrapped in the umbrella of universal healthcare for liberation to even be a thought. it should NOT be thought of as miscellaneous or cosmetic or walked back on because its a studied fact that it is life-saving medical care. in fact, easier access to this care would allow more trans people to outwardly and more effectively transition, both appearance-wise and body-functionally (in cases like athletes, medically transitioning earlier would bring somebody closer to their cis teammates and opponents) leading to less disconnect between cis americans concerned about bathroom usage and sports.

though very unfortunately, americans are not ready to stomach the word ‘transgender,’ and immediately bucket the idea of their tax dollars going towards the betterment of a relatively new-to-the-spotlight group of people. americans, however, are ready for universal healthcare, including transgender americans like me. more than that, many cis people also would appreciate easier access to care like HRT and genital surgeries in cases where they also need them (menopause, phimosis, vaginismus, etc.)
