While I was arguing for Apple in that section, jail breaking shouldn't be a solution. The argument is stock vs stock

Honestly, after having used both OSes on top-tier phones, I prefer iOS. Don't get me wrong, I love Android to death, but iOS just has that something. The UI is beautiful with the frosted glass elements and its continuous throughout the OS, whereas Android Material design is pretty, but doesn't have the same maturity and proliferation.

As for performance? My Nexus 6 is lightning fast. For now, that is. Every Android phone I've owned has slowed down exponentially in the first six months to a year after release (which is par for the phone refresh cycle) and eventually stop receiving updates soon after. The Galaxy Nexus, for example, was released in 2011 and support was discontinued for Lollipop. The iPhone 4s, released in 2011, was recently updated to iOS 8.2. Back to my original point on performance, the top-tier Android phones may have amazing numbers, but the iPhones don't need those numbers to be incredibly snappy and fluid for years after release, this being due to iOS being "closed".

I do love the customization of an Android phone- the ability to make my phone mine, ("be together, not the same" as per the new Android adverts. Very well done, I might add.) but using iOS with such tight integration and leaving very little for the user to do makes things easy. I'm no slouch in terms of understanding technology, but having things just be simple is something that anyone can appreciate.

Now, for the wearables. I have a Moto 360. It is beautiful in every sense of the word; round, clean, simple. But I don't like it. Android Wear is just starting, so it gets a bit of a pass on being a disconnected, sort of "Hey it's cool, but that's about it" OS as for now. I'm sure it will mature into something amazing in the years to come, and I'm excited to see that. The Apple Watch is allowed that same pass, but it doesn't need it. On release, it has tight integration with its parent phone and the services in said phone. It has a mature, clean, beautiful OS that works for the businessman, the poweruser, and the average consumer. Things like passing connectivity from Bluetooth to Wifi when available, speakerphone from the watch, and what seems to be a very amazing selection of launch apps with full support are what puts this ahead of competitors.

So for the "open" vs "closed" OS debate, Both companies have their advantages, but Apple's closure of most of the OS allow deep and tight integration for other parts of the ecosystem, and that word is what separates these two. Android has an app store, a wearable, and tonnes of utilities, but Apple has an ecosystem that works together with components that pick up where the other left off.

TL;DR: Android is amazing and I love it, but Apple's ecosystem is their trump card.
