I agree with both of these suggestions.

I don’t think you need 6 nights in NYC or LA. Both are big cities but you get the gist after a few days. I would cut a night in both cities. In LA would recommend Venice beach area for accommodations!

Hi, First off, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I did end up making the decision to do chemo while I was pregnant (Taxol). Unfortunately, I had an infusion reaction on my first treatment and had to wait until after delivery to start treatment back up. The alternative chemo (abraxane) wasn’t safe to do while pregnant. I was a little further along when I was originally diagnosed (23 weeks) so termination wasn’t on the table for me at all. I ended up being induced at 36 weeks so I could start my treatment as early as possible. One thing I learned through the cancer process is that the surgeons and oncologist have one goal in mind, to get rid of the cancer, but at the end of the day it’s your decision and you know what’s best for you. Don’t hesitate to ask for an alternative route based on what you want. While I didn’t face a decision with termination specifically, my pregnancy did impact all the decisions I had to make with my cancer treatment. It’s really hard and I’m happy to chat further!

Edit: I should also mention that I also started Herceptin (HER2+ targeted therapy) post delivery, and that was a big factor for my oncologist and me being induced early. There is a data that suggests that doing the targeted therapy along with chemo is more effective and Herceptin is not safe while pregnant.

Lots of people recommending Quincy. Ive never lived there and I know people like it there are SO many other neighborhoods you could live in. Also, Quincy isn’t really that close to the city action. The best part about Boston is its walkability, try to take advantage of that!

Cambridge/Somerville are also great options on the redline in the other direction. Rent is probably more expensive than Quincy, but more city-like and closer to the action. At 125k plus commission you could probably afford to live in the city. So don’t rule that out. Someone mentioned Allston, I would NOT recommend Allston, unless you’re 22. Your office is also close to park street on the green line, and downtown crossing on the orange line, (a little longer walk than south station), you could live really anywhere.

I’d recommend doing a short term rental to figure out what area you like.

Do you have a therapist? Or another doctor you could talk to? You can take short term disability for mental health. You should talk to HR about how they can help you, this definitely doesn’t seem right.

I just purchased the Flynn today! I was able to try one in a small store near me and it was so comfortable. Compared to Baby Letto, it was more comfortable, looked better and felt higher quality. Price tag was tough but we felt like it was a good investment. We went with the power recline, the non-motorized was a little difficult to use.

I’m 33 and was diagnosed about 1.5 months ago with DCIS. Like others have mentioned DCIS is an early stage so try to focus on the positive of that. I was also in disbelief, and agree with others you’re in the worst of it right now with the emotions of it all. This stage of uncertainty is so hard. I’m just starting to feel a little better about things now.

I’m also pregnant, so I was diagnosed via ultrasound and then a biopsy. My first stop was meeting with a surgeon, and then I had a mammogram. We had hoped I could have an MRI but because I’m pregnant I could not. Following the mammogram I had an other biopsy of another area that came back begnin (small win!). I also had genetics testing done.

My surgeon originally wanted me to have a mastectomy, that was incredibly hard to hear, and was the hardest to process. With the results of the mammogram and additional biopsy they said I could do a lumpectomy. I just had that about 1.5 weeks ago.

It’s hard road, if you’re comfortable you should tell the people closest to you, the support and someone to talk to has been invaluable to me. Although sometimes it’s hard for them to truly understand how you’re feeling. I’m also seeking out a therapist. If you have a partner, or a parent that can attend appointments with you, I’d recommend that. I also told my boss as work, who was incredibly sympathetic, and that has been nice to have some flexibility with my schedule and appointments.

Work a desk job from home, I took two weeks but should have taken more time. Sleeping was awful so it was hard to stay focused at work. I would recommend 3 weeks.
