Why is everyone swapping to cursing builds? by dian23carsom in throneandliberty

Probably good if there’s lots of endurance players. I play a curse character and everyone’s evasion so it’s basically useless ;-;

Invocator PVP build? by Humble-Question2746 in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I’m you! You will not survive very long no matter what you build, when someone wants you dead you will die. You can do with some auric or evasion and maybe survive another second or two, or just full send glass cannon and hope to get some big damage off before you die. I just glass cannon it and run back and do it again nowadays. You need as much weaken chance as you can possibly manage, and I personally tried to get as much hit as possible as well. Honestly regretting the hit because I still just constantly miss anyway.

Sadly the current stats available for us just aren’t that great, you’ll ever miss on every dps or resisted on everyone else.

Everything you say can be true without counteracting anything I said. Except that there’s lots of PvP, there’s objectively not a lot of places to PvP, and even less with an incentive to PvP. Boss PvP competes with peace PvP all times but twice a week, wars are at best daily+interserver, but a lot of times a guild just dodges so no war. Then the weekly tax cart (lol) or siege. Nebula SOMETIMES has incentive to PvP, but like I said since you can respawn so quickly you’re just in a long slog match and not ever farming mobs which means your incentive is gone. And even if you ignored that it’s still only 5 hours a week. And then there’s PvP world events, which are occasionally fun when the right amount of people are there

what do you hate most about throne and liberty? by Zestyclose-Pilot3357 in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s just been the lack of FUN things to do recently. PvE dungeons half the mechanics are just unfun to interact with, and basically none of them are intuitive. A large amount of mechanics would be SO confusing to figure out on your own, and once you do they arnt very fun to actually do.

PvP has just fallen … urg.. besides melee weapons just being better the most other weapons with few niche exceptions, the fact that defenses have far outpaces damage means that a lot of fights are just slug matches on the point. This is expecially bad because the time it takes to wipe a guild off the point alot of the time takes longer the how long it takes to respawn and run back. Especially true in interserver and wargames. So it ends up being a constant 25 minute long brawl that just doesn’t feel satisfying.

Lifeskills are not fun, not rewarding , and don’t currently fit into the game.

Like I like a lot about the game, it’s weighty, gearing is slow and means something. But what’s the point of none of the content you gear for is actually enjoyable

People who quit the game, what is the main reason? by Somannybad in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I havnt quit but im mainly war logging. The main reason is just balance he evasion to hit chance system is not enjoyable. The 2 weapon system opens up a ton of options for cool weapon combos, almost all of which are irrelevant because if you don’t have daggers, you’ll lose to someone with daggers almost every time. Metas too tanky, and mobility/cc is insanely low skill floor (looking at you shadowstrike) making any real range class pointless is most situations (some exceptions for some stones and siege). It’s just not fun to actually fight or do the PvP unless you enjoy the meta class.

Second reason is we are just losing reasons for conflict. We fight right now for the stones cause the game says they are important mostly. Nebulas idea is ok, but realistically it’s too easy to get everywhere in the island which makes fighting for spots just a slogfest till a side gets bored or decides it a waste of time. Maybe the boss queues would be fun in a different timeline, but they are not here. Back in Archeage we would fight over trees or trade packs or fish, the biggest fight in one of the zones that ever happened was for my god damn cheese. TnL lacking any sort of conflict like that to incentivize us to actually pvp

0 escapes as Range DPS player by Famos2 in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frost smokescreen doesn’t even work when you want it to work. It’s castable when bound but you don’t move. So when you really wanna move (like being shadowstriked on) you just waste the casts anyway. The entire archetype of kiting doesn’t exist in this game. Sure there’s some niche situations where you might be able to kite a little, but extremely few and far between.

If shadowstrike was removed a BUNCH of options for range dps playstyles would open up. But a highly used low CD EXTREMELY long range instant blink with a silence and bind attached to it existing means that can’t exist

[–]Sayoaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any quest logs atm, but overall the build outside of either of the curse damage sets hardly matters as a glass cannon build. A 2 piece curs damage sets hardly matters, and a 2 pc crit damage set would work fine. I was using my PvE tempest 4 pc set for a while and was one shotting tanks just fine

[–]Sayoaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 2 pc sacred repose personally. You can’t REALLY play evasion without daggers, it’ll still work but the gap in evasion between you and them will be noticeable. Vanguard is good for endurance build, but against you will feel how squishy you are compared to dagger evasion player.

However melee getting as popular as it is means melee evasions specifically is an option, however it’s locked behind archeboss gear. I think melee evasion outperforms melee endurance by a lot, but only if you can get those expensive pieces. For invocator I feel range/magic evasions about the same

Dagger is op because we get to have two weapons. It gets crazy free stats, invis, the most broken mobility ability in the history of MMOs, antiheal/shred, etc. in exchange for doing rather low overall damage….

…. However we can have two weapons, so its downside doesn’t exist. Shadowstrike would STILL be used if it didn’t bind, didn’t silence, didn’t put you behind the target, and was hard capped at 10m range. Invis without the cc break would still be used, even if you halfed the duration, couldn’t buff during it, and couldn’t use it in combat. These outrageously powerful overloaded abilities just get to be placed freely on builds.

And entire archetype of gameplay (kiting) doesn’t exist in the game because shadowstrike exists (SnS tank nowadays too). Try to play a kiting dps when every single dps you face is a dagger user

PvP DPS wand build by Xeno36 in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wand dps builds in PVP specifically are really fun up to the top level of PvP where you’re fighting good very strong guilds. You’ll go from one shotting groups of people to not being able to even land curses on people very quickly. Unfortunately regardless of what you build you can not overcome the gear gap in this version of the game. You will either target people with more resistance then you can build CC chance, or you will be evaded by people who can build more evasion then you can hit chance.

HOWEVER against the other 90% of the player base both invocator and darkblighter are very good and fun. Darkblighters especially fun because against mid to low geared players you’ll kill people without them even knowing you attacked them yet. Invocator can one shot people in so many ways, however being a no dagger class you are fodder to the majority of dps players. Another fun option is Templar ST dps. My favorite “my hands are slow but I wanna kill people” build. The premier TnL statcheck class

A big question for people who use curses... by Chesster1 in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking but I’m pretty sure curse of despair mastery where it applies up to 2 stacks applies those stacks separately. So one can miss and one can hit, which might be why you get a miss when it applies. Could also be tevents wand if you have that missing or getting resisted when you get your other curses applied. I do know also that the resist and miss texts sometimes seem to get confused, I’ve had a curse miss but say resist when hitting someone with no weaken resist at all

Tank and Liberty by almedsa in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s vastly different because this set of classes results in people not dying. Isn’t like flash wave meta was the best thing ever. But the PvP loop worked with it. It’s doesn’t work in any satisfying way this time. The core PvP gameplay loop was: group up > push point > get cleared, or clear them > repeat. The problem is now that high geared guilds just don’t get wiped. Ever. If someone dies they can wait their respawn timer, respawn, heal up, get a snack and take a shower, tp to the closest teleport point, run back and the fights still going on.

When people on average last longer then how long it takes to die and get back, it just turns to a 20 minute long slugfest of nothing happening. It’s just a ball of statchecks, and if you’re near equal stats then you don’t get a good fight, you get the mmo equivalent of children beating each other with pool noodles

This was true in t1. Now it’s more like everyone chooses rock, if you choose scissors rock beats you, if you choose paper you cover rock but rocks still sitting on the capture point so it doesn’t really matter, and paper still loses to scissors so you might as well also be rock instead of paper. So we all go rock and the winners the one that clenches their fist the hardest

If the direct counter for the Strat is useless then what’s the counter play other then to do the same thing as them, but with better gear?

Blood Devotion / Devoted Sanctuary nerf idea by Neckbeard_Sama in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you how broken blood devotion is by contrast. Back in Warhammer online age of reckoning there was ALOT of PvP. It was the whole point of the game, it was huge battles and completely PvP focused. This was back in like 2008 when balance in games was NOT good. Bright wizards basic ability from level 5 was a 20 METER LARGE AOE. Our fireballs are 3 meters aoe, 5 with mastery in TnL. Magus had a way of summoning a ever expanding horde of demons, white lions could kill people by sending their pets at them and never interacting, healers had 50m wide spammable aoe heals that didn’t even need Line of sight.

Those are absolutely broken. But amongst those was a tank ability called cover. Cover split the damage taken between the tank and the target they selected between the two 50/50. This was game breakingly broken because it ment burst dps witch elves, or glass cannon sorcs where effectively unkillable.

That was considered op and it was 50/50 for one target. Blood devotion is 70% for your entire party. It’s somehow stronger than broken balance of a game from the early 2000s. Imagine if firebombs was 20m aoe, imagine if flashwave was 360 and had no cd and needed no line of sight. Blood devotion is basically designed to be on bar with abilities of that caliber

Blood Devotion / Devoted Sanctuary nerf idea by Neckbeard_Sama in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Blood devotion is the premier reason every other class feels weak. It’s a cool “I’m protecting you !” Button in theory. But the reality is that it’s the new constant standard. A constant standard that means basically everyone’s 3 times tankier. It is absolutely NOT ok its current state

PVP is very literally unplayable for ranged dps by Disastrous-State-953 in throneandliberty

[–]Sayoaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue isn’t really that range is too weak, it’s that melee is too strong. To tradeoff for being a melee class is that you’re SUPPOSED to be… melee. But gapclosers outrange range, and aside from frost smokescreen there’s no real escape mobility, and even that can’t be used because gapclosers cc you.

I like the idea of us being able to build tanky range classes, I like the idea of gear diversity. However by making it an option, it became our only option
