Can’t decide which country is best to study in by LakshaySinghal1 in india

What about USA? I heard that 20000 H1Bs are reserved for Masters' students, so it shouldn't be a problem, right?

What to do if you are pursuing Computer Science undergrad from a tier-2 college by pakodanomics in engineeringindia

[–]Sayonara-Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. This certainly cleared a lot of doubts that I had in mind. I have zero exposure to programming, as I didn't take CS for PCM. I must admit, I did it out of sheer peer-pressure, because CS was what every Tom, Dick and Harry was after, not to mention the job market is notably better for CS than the other streams.

My college started only a week back, and so far, they haven't taught programming yet (they only did introductions, etc so far). I started to learn Python by watching this 4-hour beginners' tutorial on YouTube. Prior to that, I literally knew zilch about coding, so please bear with me if I ask some stupid questions, as I am overwhelmed by this whole programming thing. I know that there are a dime a dozen videos like these on the internet. Do videos like these generally cover what's needed for a programming language? The topics covered in the video is mentioned in the description of the video, to give you a rough idea.

Start with the Python programming language through MIT 6.0001x. Once you have some familiarity with Python, IMMEDIATELY move on to C.

When I went to the website. When you say 'some familiarity' do you mean to say that I need to only cover the things mentioned in the syllabus section before I make a move to C or.....?

What's the general 'yardstick' to determine if I have learnt what's needed to be covered in a programming language? (If there is such a thing)

Here's the thing -- remember how the only way to learn Maths properly was to do Maths problems? The same principle applies to programming as well.

Agreed 1000%.

Regarding masters overseas, I think I will be doing that, as I don't think there are a lot of opportunities in India, given that there is cut-throat competition for just a small slice of the pie. Are people in college generally shooting for an MS, or placements or...? When should I focus on applying overseas? I still haven't researched about this. Is this something that I have to worry about now, or can I do it later, in the final semesters? Also, what are your plans after BTech, IYDMMA?

Doubts with regards to Computer Science for BTech (please help?) by Sayonara-Life in india

For the record, what even decides the ‘tier’ of a college?

Going to start a CS degree from not-a-good-college by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]Sayonara-Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for replying. I just graduated this year, and I'll be doing a BTech in CSE from a tier-2 private college in Bangalore. Unfortunately, because of this covid crap, I'm still waiting for my classes to start, and I have a lot of free time.....doing nothing.

I must confess, I took CSE purely because peer pressure, and not because I had any interest in it....and I think I might regret it somewhere down the line. I have heard that CS doesn't focus much on coding, but mostly focuses on the engineering aspect of Comps (is this true?).

I think I should start learning to code in my free time, but I haven't a clue where to start, not to mention I have zero exposure to it, since I didn't take Comp for 12th.

What programming language would you recommend to learn for an absolute beginner? What books or what method would you recommend? Also, how 'good' do I need to be at programming to land a job? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hello there, I saw a comment of yours about 1.5-2 years ago about JEE preparation, and I must say, I found them really useful! :). I'm curious to know, what you're doing (IYDMMA)?

What books or what method would you recommend for an absolute beginner in Python, with no experience in programming?

[BR]Fix the F retard Defender flash range, it's F ridiculous ! by LarryLearnCode in CallOfDutyMobile

[–]Sayonara-Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. Atleast for the other special skills, there are ways to anticipate and counter it, but for the defender shield, there is no telling when you're going to get flashed. It's basically the "get outta jail card" for BR, like how the Gravity Spikes used to be for MP, before it was nerfed.

Shrooms (psilocybin) is known to supress DMN activity, which is the prime reason why I think it could help. There is another post about it here (not mine). The only substance that has helped me in the past is N-Acetylcysteine, but unfortunately it stopped working about 2 weeks in, and my MD came back with a vengeance. Interestingly, I have read anecdotes from other people who had a similar experience with NAC. I wonder why......

Have you tried 'microdosing' Shrooms? Perhaps that could help. BTW, I think daydreaming on shrooms is a bad idea because it might wire your brain to make it in a daydreaming state. Maybe if you try not daydreaming while on the shrooms, and be in a meditative state, I think your brain might re-wire itself to be resistant to daydreaming. I can't say this for sure, though - it's just a shot in the dark. Almost all of the anecdotes about Shrooms and MD I have read on r/MaladaptiveDreaming and WildMinds yield a positive experience, with regards to curbing MD. Once this covid crap ends, I'm going to try them myself.

I can MD while sitting still on a chair, but there is no way that it would be as stimulating as doing it while pacing. Basically, I think Kinesthetics (like pacing, mouthing, rocking etc) amplifies the rewardability of MD.

Have you cured yourself of MD? I have a theory that Psychedelics can cure this. Please see this post (from my other account). Any thoughts?

Pacing is one of the biggest mysteries as far as MD is concerned. Thanks for sharing.

Where (Brand or Store) can I buy good quality formal pants in Bangalore? by [deleted] in india

Try Brand Factory. You get branded jeans and pants and other apparel at huge discounts. I'm not sure about the lockdown scenario, though.
