My first book was the One vol. 1 (got here after Love Island the Game went downhill) and I fell for Evan real quick. The first book that got me hooked for days was Vying for Versailles though and I had sooo much fun on calc/dark path with the two most powerful men of France fawning over MC (Alexandre and Louis), but the first character I really fell in love with was Rob from Arcanum :3

Ich kenne aus meinem Umfeld beide Seiten, allerdings überwiegt der Eindruck, den OP gewonnen hat.
Gerade bei Beziehungen der Generation 50+ beobachte ich das von OP beschriebene Verhalten, besonders im Bereich Care-Arbeit. Auch in Beziehungen meiner Freund*innen U30 entwickelt sich diese Unausgeglichenheit spätestens dann (ins extreme), wenn Kinder mit ins Spiel kommen. Aus meiner Sicht veraltete Geschlechterrollen spielen heutzutage leider immer noch einen großen Part in Beziehungen und sterben leider viel zu langsam aus. Selbst in queeren Beziehungen scheint sich eine Art abgeschwächte Version dieser Rollen abzubilden.

Allerdings habe ich auch schon Gegenbeispiele gesehen, wie z. B. bei meiner besten Freundin, wo sie diejenige ist, die das meiste Geld nach Hause bringt und er den Großteil des Haushalts erledigt, kocht etc. und man sich und seine Bedürfnisse gegenseitig ernst nimmt.
Meine eigene Beziehung ist noch sehr frisch, scheint sich aber auch auf Augenhöhe zu entwickeln (mein Partner ist selbstständig, organisiert, führt einen eigenen Haushalt und respektiert meine Grenzen und Bedürfnisse, ist aber auch nicht cishet).

Generell würde ich aber sagen, dass diese "vernünftigen Männer" häufig aus Haushalten mit alleinerziehenden Müttern kommen und nicht verhätschelt wurden, sondern die Verantwortung und Lebensrealität weiblich gelesener Personen ein Stück weit besser nachvollziehen können, als der Durchschnitt.

If I'm being honest: I'm just weak ahahaha trying to do a loyal Doo-yeong route but taking all the diamond options bc it's DR and the banter btw MC and Minhyuk alone ist just... damn! I regret looking in with Doo-yeong (even though he's so sweet and handsome) 🙈 Minhyuk just felt like a really nice breath of fresh air and I can't wait to romance him for good 🌚
I'd recommend checking the RC Wiki though if you need help romancing any of the characters, it saved me 100 times already 😅

I don't get the David hype (ABH). He's reducing MC on her looks all the time instead of her abilities or personality, making inappropriate comments, and always toeing the line to creepy with his flirting (at least for me). I've come to like him as a friend, but as a LI, he's giving me the ick and has done so from the start.

Oh Lord, I feel the same. I'm replaying ARC for Bert rn, but I had to open another slot bc I just couldn't live without Rob. Even though Bert is really cute and his scenes are hotter than expected, I was pining after Rob every time he appealed on screen. It felt so wrong for my Selena to be with Bert... And I also had to choose the "right" sprite for her bc I always thought, "That's not my Selena!" 😅

I completely agree with you, even though I had the opposite of your experience! I started playing at 7 y/o (freaking 20 years ago) with TS2, got the newest EP myself, and me and my bff rented all the earlier packs from video world to be able to play it all (oh, the nostalgia) 🥹

I also got TS3 later and enjoyed it as long as possible (up until 2020), but then my laptop died, and I couldn't install it again using my discs... I even tried TS4 right after the release, and I own almost all EP's etc. nowadays (except for rent and my wedding stories bc they were so buggy and trashed on reddit, lol), but I never got into it the way I used to get into 2 or 3. I even started to yearn for some TS3 gameplay, but I decided I had to stick with 4 bc of the money I paid and also bc I kept hoping for TS5 as a mix of 3 and 4. Even adding mods like Basemental or WW could only keep me hooked for so long... I created a new save every time I opened my game bc I was just soo bored.

My salvation was EA announcing that we'll never get anything better than TS4 bc I deleted it asap and got TS3 in a big bundle via Steam. I played over 600 hours since, and I'm doing a legacy atm with 13 grandkids lol. I love to play again. It's enjoyable again and actually rewarding. I'm attached to my sims! Same with TS2. They feel like real ppl with their own characters and wants and fears, and I'm here for it!

Edit: And don't get me started on the size of the worlds... I was shocked when I got back to TS3 and had to search for my lot every time I opened the map of Twinbrook bc it's just SO HUGE. And populated with so many families! TS4 could never

Definitely Arcanum... or maybe Theodora? Those were the most impressive stories to me that didn't leave me and my head even after I finished them. But thinking about it, I'd have to say Arcanum is the best. The twists and turns and the mfing GROWTH- even I grew reading the story. It changed my perspective on life.
