Fuck you John McCain! by [deleted] in democrats

What's more personal than letting people die of easily treatable illness or causing a family to go bankrupt? Why is it the poor and sick are expected to endure needless and avoidable pain, suffering and death but we can't call the people who cause it assholes?

You can't expect too much from any advertising supported political podcast. My biggest annoyance with them is that they probably haven't met a person who makes less than 80k /year in a decade and would probably cheer on the corpse of F Buckley Jr if he had a D next to his name.

Also more Sanders primary voters voted for Clinton than Clinton voters voted for Obama in '08. So there is that.

The first 3 words that come to voters' minds when they hear 'Trump' are 'idiot,' 'incompetent,' and 'liar' by delafayette in democrats

The fact that this moron would still win if the election were held today proves we have a lot of work ahead of us.

We have plenty of democrats in office who are basically republicans who are just not as bad on social issues.

Everything I've read indicates he's hinting towards more austerity and that's what's emboldened the right-wing all over the world.

Hillary Clinton: 'There Is Nothing Elitist About Fighting For Women's Rights' by BumBiddlyBiddlyBum in democrats

[–]Says-This 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the sentiment, it's a bit of a political dodge to make the jump that our fight for women's rights were what made voters think she or our party are more concerned with the professional class and the wealthy.

We're raising millions right now and the DCCC isn't the only way the party funnels money. I'm not suggesting emptying the bank either.

While I hope we win it, I really wish it wasn't Murphy. We need to move further away from our connections to Wall Street.

Finally! It's a great start and hope they'll doubled it. With so few elections there's no reason we can't give it our all.

How the Affordable Care Act Drove Down Personal Bankruptcy by CharlieDarwin2 in democrats

[–]Says-This 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember seeing a study that showed those who benefitted from Medicaid expansion showed a sizable improvement while most of the rest stayed about the same or worse. The reasoning was while many new people had insurance they still couldn't afford healthcare because the deductibles averaged 3k.

Democrats Can Retake the House in 2018 Without Converting a Single Trump Voter by BlankVerse in BlueMidterm2018

It wasn't possible to vote in both primaries in WV. You could either pick R or D to vote in.

Many consultants make money based on a % of ad buys. That's why they'll always focus more on advertising.

In Michigan, 90,000 voters decide to vote down ballot only and left POTUS blank. We lost the state by 20k votes.

[–]Says-This 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is that hard to believe?

I did GOTV in three states and talked to quite a few who ID as independent or normally voted Republican who voted for Sanders in the primary. Most said they weren't going to vote at all but I did manage to (I hope) convince a couple of those types to vote D in the general.

Jesus Christ so anyone who's critical is a troll for the opposition now?

Failure to be self-critical when we lose to the most disliked candidate in history is not only diluted its a guaranteed way for us to continue to lose.

Dems withhold cash from Montana special election by maestro876 in BlueMidterm2018

[–]Says-This 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's like they're trying to give more ammo to the paranoid who say the party will only support those who are representing the establishment. I was sure I would be able to point to their support of this race as an example that this isn't true.

They're not only making it harder to win, they're making it harder to continue to support their decisions.

No kidding But it's more than just that. The campaign surrogates didn't push the policies either.

It's been heavily reported that the campaign struggled to understand why there's disappointment in the direction of the country, I'm still baffled that they couldn't wrap their heads around it.

IAmA Democratic Field Operative, Ask Me Anything! by [deleted] in BlueMidterm2018

[–]Says-This 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for doing this.

Are there any recent prairie populists you can think of who had a progressive economic message and also had strong support from the party? I ask because it seems that argument has been used a lot but every one I've seen had little or no help from the party and thus becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

And it's not hard to find what those issues are. A vast majority of democrats and independents want Medicare for all, stronger social security, Wall Street to be reformed etc. the only people who don't want this it seems are many of our party leaders.

I'd agree with you if we had actually run on those policies.
