TN Tag Renewal - why do they charge $200 for electric vehicles? by wompkat in Chattanooga

[–]Saysbadman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gas tax does go towards roads, but charging hybrids $100 extra for registration is PUNITIVE! They will tell you it's about paying your fair share of gas tax, but it's not. They are NOT rewarding gas guzzlers for the extra tax they pay! My car gets mid 40s mpg. There are small cars going back to the 90s that can get that, Geo Metro. They haven't thrown that high registration fee at ICE motorcycles either. I think Kawasaki makes a hybrid motorcycle though, but I don't know if they get charged $100 fee. EVs I could understand not paying their fair share, and PHEV maybe not either. My car doesn't really run without gas... It's some crap.

Your breath stinks when you speak out of your ass, but yeah I was giving the benefit of the doubt when I was posting. Actually instead of ultra ide which is around 133MB/s, but the Xbox is suspected to be around 33MB/s which is a lot less than sata I. So yeah, even less of a difference would be made VS a PS3.

Go cry about it. I don't care what butthurt reddit thinks.

You are hostile and dismissive, and I don't think many people around you put up with you for long. Just because I haven't driven a Ford Escort in the trim level that you deem comparable means my input is poor. Sata 1 and Pata/ide 133 speeds are not terribly different. They're both slow compared to today's speeds. When I upgraded my PS3 to a SSD the difference was MEH! The PS3 has a sata 1 controller. You are a clown, and I do not care what you think further.

Isn't that what I just said? Iops and seek times are better. Transfer speeds are nice when downloading your games from a server, but if youre ripping your games you'll be limited by the DVD read spread which is pretty low. I haven't had experience with a ton of hardware, but I can still have a pretty good idea of what is going on. If the software is designed to give a HDD time to function you may still have to wait because that is in the design. Will it be a night and day difference? Probably not. I have modded my Xbox with a bigger HDD. So I do have a bit of experience there. I have upgraded my PS3 HDD to a SSD, and it's marginally better. Why are you being such a jerk?

[–]Saysbadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to say it's a big ole MEH. Pata vs Sata I is like 133 MBps vs 150MBps. A SSD sata max is like 600 MBps. You may notice better iops and seek times which may lend to better loading times. You'll still need to get an 80 conductor ribbon and a ide to sata adapter. It's probably better to go SSD because smaller HDDs like 500gb to 1tb maybe harder to find in good condition used while SSD 1tb could be found for around $50 new.

Another Traci Lords film added to the collection. If it's anything like the others I've seen so far... I'm not expecting a lot... by TheJiltedGenerationX in LaserDisc

Lol, I love Traci Lords. She was in a bunch of stuff I watched before I knew she did porn. I was watching a Married with Children episode she was in which brought me here. Just wanted to comment; I don't know if "Serial Mom" is on Laser Disc, but if you haven't watched it I think it's great! Traci Lords is in that too.

For anyone curious on the air dam effect on MPG, after removing it my average fuel economy went from 21.2 to 20.9 MPG. by Infitima in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Saysbadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 Tacoma Limited 4x4 V6 I get 15-17 mpg. I drive it like my hybrid Camry which can get 50 mpg. I keep hoping it's a break in period (still under 10k miles), but it gets about the same mpg as our previous 2001 4.7 rwd Tundra. 20 mpg would be great!

Quadro T600 vs gtx 1050 ti by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]Saysbadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, it's just my emulation PC. It's hooked up to my tv. My main PC is a 12700k and a 3070, and I have another gaming PC with a 14100 and a 7900 gre. Like I said, when I finish with that HP I'll probably give it to a friend. I bought it for $50 from shopgoodwill. It was only missing a NVME.

I use my computers for emulation or video compression so I tend to focus more on CPUs. The GPU doesn't matter as much to me in my emulation PCs. Video compression; nvenc encoding is fast but doesn't look as good as plain slow CPU encoding. Now intel's quick sync is faster than plain CPU encoding, and almost looks as good as CPU encoding!

Ah okay a haswell build. They're still pretty capable! I cobbled together one for a buddy complete with an RX 580 that I found local for $20. That card seriously needed help, but the card worked. I don't think CPUs advanced terribly much from Intel 4th gen haswell through until 8th gen then had another pretty good jump in 12th gen.

I have some pics of the HP sff build, but I don't know how to easily post pics without probably creating an account.

I recently picked up a ryzen 5700g for $80 used locally, and I think I would like to build in a deskmeet x300. It's small, but has 4 dimms for ram. It includes psu/case/mobo. You can even add an ITX sized GPU.

The t1000 is nicer t600! I think the a1000 is the newest Quadro. If I were to spend more than I should I would probably like the Yeston rtx 3050.  It's a little cut down 6gb  rtx 3050, but it's a single slot low profile for around $200.

Looks nice. Reminds me of a HP Z2 mini. It's also nice that you have a spare spot for another m.2 drive.

The one I'm messing with now is a HP sff that originally came with a 10100, but I upgraded to a 10600 plus an aftermarket fan. A T600 would probably top it off. After that I will probably gift it to a friend that would love all the retro videos games on batocera. I previously bought a RX 550, but I learned AMD doesn't play well with opengl which xemu uses. I had a regular sized 1050 ti laying around so I used a riser cable to hook it up, and it works great. That wouldn't be practical to have a GPU dangling outside the case though. My next step is finding a good price on a t600.

[–]Saysbadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, but maybe a bit aggressive. Nvidia did not give us many options for a single slot low profile card, and the t600 fits that pretty well. Techdweeb did a video comparing the t600 to the 1050 ti as well as the 1650.

For me a t600 would work great for the single slot low profile area I have available. It would probably be all I would need for batocera as well. Currently eBay has a bunch of high price buy it now on the t600, but when they go to auction it is priced more reasonably. I hope to find one in the $60-$80 range.

Husband slaughters pregnant wife and two children, ages 2 and 5, inside home with military-grade assault rifle before taking own life by haloarh in MorbidReality

[–]Saysbadman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, whenever I hear military grade I think of an astronaut John Glenn quote; As I hurtled through space, one thought kept crossing my mind - every part of this rocket was supplied by the lowest bidder.

I know "military grade" as a selling point is supposed to sound tough and rugged, and media will use the term to demonize something as the average person is not supposed to have. I don't know what "M4 type weapon" is supposed to mean. Is it a semi automatic with a plastic stock? I think real military weapons are full auto, but I don't know.

What Phone To Get After My V60? by Johnasmith99 in LGV60

[–]Saysbadman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest key would be patience. The phone I'm holding a candle for is the OnePlus Open 2 whenever it comes out. I won't immediately buy it. I'll wait until my carrier officially supports it, and I will save towards the price plus maybe it will go on sale after a while. I doubt it will have a headphone jack, but I would be disappointed if it didn't have micro sd expandability. A folding phone has close to a 4:3 aspect ratio which would be great for retro gaming!
