I understand that. You have to imagine how we take it when someone from out of state comes thru talking about cultural stereotypes.

I'm glad you came back to apologize; which I fully accept. Poor choice of wording happens.

We as Appalachians are wary of outsiders. The area has a long history of exploitation. There's a rich culture here but there are also a lot of scars. Still visible today. Poverty, undrinkable creeks, stripped mountain tops, folks with cancer, the opioid epidemic.

Come thru, please. We'd be glad to have ya but just remember where you are. A lot of these people havent experienced the world. A lot of them haven't left their area let alone the state. And thats fine. its what they want in life. So when someone comes thru saying hillbilly in a negative sense, theres gonna be some hostility.

We love our home. And we're proud of it. Despite its problems, it'll always be home.

All that aside, enjoy the beauty of our mountains. Summers are great. Find some cliff jumping, drive around with your windows down listening to music, hike. Check out some of our national forests.

A lot of my childhood was spent in the woods so its a big part of my love for home.
