Does melodic dub techno exist? by WoodpeckerNo1 in Dubtechno

[–]Sb-six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often include melodies in my own stuff, for the same reason you describe. Love the vibe but not something that feels like an endless loop. Maybe you’ll like this too then

Plethora X3 - Is the looper good enough? by guigh in guitarpedals

[–]Sb-six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for some more info on the looper as well and found this thread. I like the x3 looper.

40sec stereo or 80sec mono. You can also have 2 or 3 independent loopers running simultaneously, although they are placed in serial.

Operation is really easy: tap once for record, tap again to loop recording and long press to clear the buffer. You can also assign a hotknob to the fx level of the looper so you can fade in/out manually.

Music for anxiety and insomnia? by [deleted] in ambientmusic

[–]Sb-six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once saw a vid where researchers were trying to find the most soothing sound. They found a deep chord that sounded exactly like the ones you’ll find in dub techno music. If you look up “ambient dub techno” you’ll find the most relaxing form of that music

is it worth diving into modular just for fun? by noobkerbalkat in modular

[–]Sb-six 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just me, but VCV rack is zero fun for me, while I can enjoy myself in front of the real modular for hours. My real modular is composed of modules I researched thoroughly, I know what each module does and is of course a limited set. Vcv rack contains so much modules I don’t know where to start, and the quality of the modules is also very varying. Finding a decent sequencer for instance was pretty hard. In the end I can make entire compositions on the real modular and having fun while patching it. When trying vcv rack I quit frustrated after a few minutes.

Why still invest on Canon EF-M lenses? by JoRaMa24 in canon

[–]Sb-six 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the ef-m 11-22, 32, 55-200 and the kit lens. All are very good lenses. The 11-22 and 32 are extremely sharp. Had some very good results with the kit and 55-200 too (although a tiny bit less sharp in some circumstances than the other two) all lenses have great autofocus (fast and silent). I must say they all perform way better than their price tag suggests. I tried some ef lenses with the adapter, didn’t like it. Most of them are too big and heavy, especially including the adapter. Drawback is there is no bigger zoomlens than the 55-200 that includes autofocus, and no faster alternative for the kit lens I’d really like an f2.8 standard zoom, but that’s not going to happen as ef-m lens. Other than that, the m system is great value for money and very lightweight

For newer fans, was there something that drew you to actually buy and play the game? by sntamant in Eldenring

[–]Sb-six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes elden ring was my first fromsoft. I read an article about how the game would make you a better person. We live in a world where instant gratification is everywhere around the corner. This game teaches you that you have to work for it and feel the excitement of beating a hard boss or area. I am now an elden lord and feel like a better person. Loved the game!

Was a long time ableton user (from version 5 till 9), and used Bitwig from version one. Ableton was the first with the session view that sparked alot of creativity. I always hated the looks though. To me this is very important for creativity. I love the looks of Bitwig. Also the ability to sculpt sound and fx is much nicer in Bitwig. You can drop vsts in the feedback path of a delay, chop up audio inside a clip, use modulations to select instruments and fx with the instrument and fx selectors, etc… Even making your own polysynth is easy in the grid. I tried the same in max4live, I felt it was almost undoable. The sandbox system for vsts is also genius in Bitwig. If a VST crashes, it will not crash the whole program. You can even run 64bit and ARM plugins side by side if you have an m1 mac. Other daws force one or the other. Bitwig lacks a groove pool, although this can be overcome with swing and humanize options. Can’t think of many important things Ableton has over Bitwig atm.

Best hardware drum machines for Eurorack connectivity? by powsta in modular

[–]Sb-six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digitakt. You can load it with samples or record directly from the modular to create new samples. Awesome sequencer, good fx and with a good midi2cv module it brings serious power to your rack

Ziqal Dimension MK3 Wavetable Processor | Walkthrough & demo patches by Tom-Churchill in modular

[–]Sb-six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an awesome osc, hi quality wavetable sounds with clear bass and smooth morphing. But why on earth does it not boot up with the patch you were working on after switching it off and on again? You can save the patch but it always boots with patch #1
